Whistling noise

I just put a new block in my 2g, now under moderate to heavey acceleration I can hear a whistling noise, as soon as I let off the gas it goes away.
It could be the air being sucked through the turbo, but it didn't make that sound in the old motor.

mods: hks mega flow,hks ssq bov,16g,3in pipe

Any ideas what it might be?

It may be a boost leak, but I think it is pretty normal. How does your power feel? Why did you replace the old engine?

I think it's normal. I hear the same whistle in my car when I accelerate and the fast I accelerate the louder it gets.

Where should I check for a boost leak?
power is low right now, new clutch so I lowered the boost to ~12psi. Replaced the old block because I broke a rod and killed the oil pump.

Build yourself a boost leak tester. There is a how-to on the vfaq. just need a few parts from Home Depot and an auto parts store. I can almost garantee that you will find leaks, I found them all over the place on my car. Good luck!

Some manual boost controllers use a bleeder hole. The XBC uses one too. When you start to pressure-ize your intercooler pipes via your turbo, the bleeder hole literally bleeds off boost. Its an insignificant amount, but it does make a SHHHHH sound different from the turbo spooling. Either way, you should def. get/build an intake tester and go from there. Good luck

Does it make the sound only under boost conditions? What about when the car is stopped and you are just reving the motor? That could help us figure out your problems.

The noise has stopped since posting this, so I dont know what it was and will never know.
