I'm just curious on how people do this? I need a map for 93, 100, and c16. I'd rather not have to go back on 3 different occasions and pay $250 each time I go. Instead I want to take a 3 gallon c16 tank and a 3 gallon 100 tank and tune with one octane .. then drain the fuel and dump in higher octane stuff and let it run for a few minutes. Then dyno / tune with that .. then drain again and ad even higher octane and let it run a while and then tune. Can this be done or would I generally need 3 different dyno appointments?

i guess it would depend on the dyno shop. most times once you are strapped in, thats it. i think three seperate trips would be ideal... man you get raped for dyno sessions... around here you can get them for $25-35 for 3 pulls.

that $250 includes them tuning my car and 5-8 runs... whatever it takes to get it right

We are $90 for three pulls and tuning...isn't 5-8 runs damn hard on your car in one day?

hmm then why is it so expensive around here??? GRD told me they'd charge me $200 ( awd dyno ) and AMS is even more. ( + convering to fwd since they don't have an awd dyno ) Maybe just because its chicago area

Why do you need to have a dyno shop tune your car, and why do you need to tune it on three different kinds of gas?

It's simply a matter of what the shop will allow you to do, you need to ask them.

I'd rather not be out on the street endangering mine and other peoples lives for something as silly as making air / fuel adjustments. I don't have a wideband either and I need 3 different types of gas because I'm not going to drive around on race gas. Then on test and tunes I want to run 100 octane because it's available at the pump for 3.79 a gallon and for serious races or events I want to run on c16 with the nitrous.

Endangering the lives of others?

If you don't want to endanger the lives of others, then why are you tuning your car on pump gas? If you can't tune the car on the street because it's too dangerous, what do you plan on doing with a tuned car?

You could always go somewhere safe and do a second or third gear pull, since that will get you to highway speed.

Id want to tune it in 3rd gear rather than second. I don't like tuning on the street because it takes several runs and the cost of a ticket or accident are more than a professional tune. Stepping on the gas in traffic is one thing, but repeated 3rd gear runs at wot is too much to do on the street. ( in my area at least )

dyno tuning, and having some one else tune your car once 220
wideband, and learning to tune your own car for the rest of your life, priceless

actually no, it's only about 350 bucks :shhh:

I was just asking about changine gas at a dyno ... not how to use dsmlink :)

well screw the dyno and use that payment to purchase your own wideband, bro. Then you can tune your car forever on your own and not have to worry about paying and trusting someone else to tune your car for you.

You don't even need a wideband to tune either!

You can cruise on the highway at 60+ mph, but you can't make a pull up to 60 on the highway during the night? Because you might get a ticket?

Your preference is one thing, but using logic like this...

Luckily Dave and Tom already did the thinking for you. Remove the return line from the rail and have it dumping into a gas tank. Now take their wonderful product, dsmlink, and turn your fuel pump on (it shouldn't have to be said but it will: keep the engine off).

Your fuel pump will begin to magically remove fuel from the car's gas tank.

Now, because it also seems to be a topic of discussion: tune at the track or on the street (track, track, track). Once you think you have it running pretty well, take it to the dyno.

Oh, and I can't imagine why you would run 3 fuel maps. You need one for pump and one for race.....how often are you going to be running in between?

LOL @ "endangering lives".

Nobody said you had to tune the car in a school zone. You don't have any roads around with little to no people? Even if you do tune on the dyno you'll still have to fine tune that on the street by, *get this*, doing third or fourth gear pulls. But please, try not to kill anybody, mom.

eat a dick man. Speed limits are there for a reason and it's idiots like you that make our insurance rates so high and total their cars when it could have easily been avoided just by not driving like an ass. I race this car at the track only and follow posted speed limits during daily driving. Yes there are roads where I could go out and have room to do 3rd and 4th gear runs but what if a deer jumps out or something? Why don't we just focus on the question at hand or stfu and find something better to do than post useless bs that just starts arguements.

p.s. I want 3 maps so I'm not driving daily on 100 octane or even c16 because even 93 octane isn't cheap anymore nowadays. 100 octane I can get at the pump here so it's readily available if I were to just decide to go to the track one night. ( $4.00 a gallon ) C16 is for events with higher boost and the nitrous. and I don't want to have to drive 45 minutes to pick up a drum of c16 every weekend.

Hmph, did I touch a nerve? Good. Guess what? Last year at our local 1/4mile track a dog ran out in front of one of the race cars and almost got nailed so I guess you're f*cked regardless. Shit happens, welcome to life. Wipe the sand out of your labia and go tune.

And for the record I've yet to cause or even be in an accident. I'm 28 so that's 12 years without so much as a fender bender. But I tune on the street so I must be an idiot.
