Really weird Fuel problem, or Electrical? Car stutters bad, progressively worse

Ok so this is for my brother but he doesn't do forums much, the car is a 95 talon gsx running 15psi boost. Anyway he got a check engine light a couple days ago and then this happens today. He said it started bucking/stuttering pretty bad if he got into the boost, so he just started shifting real early and being gentle to stay out of boost, then he had to go up a hill and he said it got worse from there on out now he gives it any gas and it starts stuttering real bad. He actually parked his car where it was because he didn't want to drive it any further (which I actually think is a good idea considering neither of us know how bad this is). Anyway at first I was thinking fuel cut because he said hed hit boost and it would start bucking and stuttering but now he says it stutters even when hes out of boost so I don't know. Hes going to buy an obd-II tool and scan for codes tomorrow but any ideas what the hell this could be?

I know this may seem like a ridiculously elementary question...but when was the last time he changed his plug wires? That sounds alot like what happened to me once...well twice, but that's not the point. I kept thinking big instead of keeping it simple. Just tell him to ohm his wires out with a multimeter. Stock specs are 22k ohms. Upgraded wires of course should be less. Hope maybe this helps.

Thanks for the reply, he just bought the car recently and the guy said the wires were pretty new but since we don't really KNOW for sure I will make sure to have him check that.

I too have the same problem...I've replaced alot of things as well..new CAS,Cam sensor,fuel filter ,rebuilt injectors,BOV stock. new thrust bearings, NGK blue wires,NGKbpres6's plugs..and my car does the same thing under boost..

I had a similar problem, when I would reach full boost, (around 13psi) it would sound like a machine gun going off. Regapped my spark plugs and the problem was done. Just something to try

Same thing happend to me.The code said "multiple cylinder misfire"?

my gsx does the same thing but only when I launch it hard .... never could figure out why.

As for people getting a code "multiplie cylinder misfires" ... check your coilpacks and injectors. Obviously plugs and wires should be checked first.

My car did this to me one evening driving down the highway, whenever I would hit WOT I would get a symptom similar to fuel cut, the car would buch hard and loose boost at about 10psi. The car drove fine when I stayed out of boost.

My problem ended up being that the UICP had blown off and was resting in the correct place but had a very bad leak.

So I would also check for large boost leaks in your IC piping.

Just a thought.

yea boost leaks will also do that ... they should however not throw a cylinder misfire code.

Was the car feled at a dfferent station? I try to stay with 1 or 2 stations so bad gas is a possibiity. As mentioned plugs. buy a new set and I go with a gap of .028. Recently the same problem occured with a friend. he pulled his plugs and they were at .044. Mark
