Alright guys... I have a 16g turbo and my uncle has a tial 35mm wastegate

Is it possible to use a external wastegate on my 16g turbo???? and if so explain how with an internal wastegate on the 16g

joo need a new turbine housing that doesnt have a wastegate....otherwise you wont be able to control boost.
Andrew
ps you dont need it for that turbo a 34mm will do perfectly fine..

first the actuator for your internal wastgate needs to come off it is not permanent and no longer needed, second you are going to need to buy a new O2 housing that blocks the internal wastegate port it will no longer be needed(www.punishmentracing.com for example) third you need to contact Tial for a bung flange for that specific wastgate size and mention it will be installed on your factory manifold. third take your exhaust manifold to very rep. weldor in town ,muffler shops can do but usually are sloppy, and have them drill a hole and then weld bung flange in place NOTE: test fit wastegate with bung flang before any drilling/welding takes place, it will be best off to the driver's side of manifold as the intake is on the left and we try to keep this area as cool as possible. http://www.buschurracing.com/cat_images/3052lg.jpg for example. you can extend off number 1 runner or down at the bottle neck were all 4 runners meet. have fun and be safe.

What O2 housing are you running? You can buy O2 housings set up for external wastegates ... get one of those and on the turbo take off the actuator and the flapper door and you're set. Kinda pointless on a 16g unless you have major creep problems which can usually be fixed with the 34mm flapper and some porting.

I wouldn't go after the waste gate opening for the external. You would want to put it on the Manifold. AFter the turbo you might have to port out the internal wastgate opening to totally get rid of boost creep. Just use a block off plate on the internal waste gate opening and have a flange for your external welded as close to the collector as possible. I Weld cast a lot and it isn't difficult to do. IF you know how to weld make sure you clean it really good use 90 amp on AC or like 70 on DC and preheat the manifold to like 600 degrees farenheight before you weld on it. If you have it done make sure the shop does this. Also have them clean up the welds so you can visually inspect them for cracks. It's not hard to weld but if they don't know what they are doing and it cools to fast the weld or the manifold WILL crack.
