Ok im in the market for exhuast iv read alot but i still dont know. Here are my questions. 3" vs 2.5" on stock t25? Iv heard that 3" causes loss of low end torqe but gains in highend. Oh before im not talking full exhaust i dont have money for DP right now so im saying testpipe or race cat back. I cant make my mind up about 2.5" or 3" i have awd so will that play into affect of the loss of power downlow? I mean i know it will still launch but will it affect it at all? Just basicly what is good and bad about both. 2.5" and 3" exhaust from test pipe back or racecat..

You should go get the 3" all the way. So you can save some money by not having to swap out the 2.5 down the road.

If you ever plan on upgrading the turbo a 3inch exhaust can benefit you more than a 2,5inch

Do note that 3" is massively loud... The car will leave you nearly deaf after trips of over an hour at e-way speeds... :-( May not be "streetable" by everyone's definition anymore! :)

Compared to being inside a jet engine with a heavy metal concert going on!

It IS quiet compared to the hot rod guys with their big V8s with straight pipes, BUT they're all over 60 and deaf already anyways!!!

The Apexi DP and N1 exhaust that you asked about will not be a 3in system. Neither piece is 3in all the way through(no matter what it's advertised as).

Uh, OK, you can make big letters, that's nice :) Do you actually have a 3" exhaust? If so, which one? Seriously, I'm talking from experience... My 3" exhaust is quite loud (obnoxious is the word that comes to mind). 3" HKS HiPer on a RS*R downpipe... I've been thinking about replacing it with 2.5" just so I can drive the car on long trips and not have ringing in my ears when I get out of the car...

um i actually have a 3" tubular stainless steel o2 housing, 3" down pipe not the one that necks damn at the o2 flange but a *true* 3" on both ends, 3" test pipe and my thermal cat back has the neck down section cut off to fit the 3" test pipe.

whats you're point?

ill post it again.

3" HKS HiPer on a RS*R downpipe

um and the hks hyper is not 3" anywhere

To keep this thread from expanding into a giant arguement, think about it logically. Some 3in exhausts will be loud while others will be more quiet. It all depends on the construction, resonators, the can construction, if you use a straight pipe, cat, etc, etc. For that matter, what's loud to one person might not be loud to another.

Apparently sound levels are subjective :) I'd ask what everyone else thinks of their sound levels, but we've gone far enough OT here already.

I WISH the HiPer wasn't 3"!!! It's a 3" cat-back sewer-pipe :) The RS*R starts off at 2.25" or 2.5" and ends up as 3" by the end of it (actually, after the flex section that pinches back down some).

'night y'all!

so getting off the sound level and back to PROFORMACE what is better for the t25? 2.5" or 3" Im probly just going to get the apexi WS but i still would like to know before i purchase it. Also does anyone know if the WS is a true 3" system or is it like the hyper and N1 that have some parts that are 3" and others that is 2.5"?

Get 3", I found out the hard way and spent money twice!

What happened?

Nothing, I just went from 2.5 to 3" in a matter of months.

Oh and for the record my 3" is barely louder than my old 2.5 :thumb:

Get 3" and if it's to loud buy a 25$ resenator and get a muffler shop to weld it in for a couple of bucks and problem solved. I'm pretty confident that it won't be to loud. Mine is loud inside the car because it's turned down after the resenator. Outside the car it's acutally quiet. I have heard a full 3" and in my opinion it's not that loud. Get 3" though

A 3" exhaust will only make you loose torque BEFORE the turbo kicks in. However, it will make your turbo spool earlier in rpm's.
I was very suprised at how quiet my exhaust was after i put it on!!! Its 100% full 3" with no cat, no resonator, and has a straight through muffler.

did everyone read that?

damn, i can't wait to get my full 3" exhaust system. how much did everyone's system cost?

i dont want apex cause i heard its really not a "true" 3" system. necking down in some places.

looking for a 3" o2 eliminator downpipe with internal dump to interchangeable 3" high flow cat '| test pipe to a nice looking 3" catback (probably thermal)

i know rnr has the best price, but adding hte "bling bling" with the thermal will increase the price.

I just got the RNRracing turbo back with O2 eliminator. I didn't like the look of the mufflers he offered. For $20 less he sold me the system with no muffler. I'm getting a mirror finish Magnaflow muffler welded on (actually today). Getting the muffler of my choice was enough bling bling for me. Cost a lot less than buying something like a whole Thermal catback to mate up to it. I don't really understand polishing SS piping that goes underneath the car. I guess people that see your car while it is on a lift will be impressed.
