What lines should I try and reuse off of the t 2 small and what additional parts will I need. I already have a J-pipe, but I am not sure what I can re-use and what I need to buy. I have read many other posts but got mixed answers about making certain lines fit and what about a S/S feed line, is it a pretty big deal or what?

I want to save as much as I can without hurting the turbo or the performance.

Thanks,
Ben

the only things you can reuse are the water lines. And... I guess the gaskets if you are really cheapo. And... you could have reused the return line, about you already have a new one.

you need a new oil feed line, and gaskets, and thats it.

I know with my turbo I had to buy their SS oil feed line to keep my turbo warranty.

I would highly recommend a SS Oil feed line, and different return line.

If that turbo isn't ported, i would almost make it a requirement that it and the o2 housing are ported before you put them in. You are going to kick yourself in the butt if you have to take it all right back off just to put it back on. I learned the hard way.

Here is what I re-used and here is what I purchased...

Re-used.

Crush washers
Water feed lined.Water return lines.( they get switched on the 16G)
O2 Housing from the T2-Small( it flows much better than the 6cm 16g Housing.)
And I believe you can use the oil return line too...Can't remember.

Purchased.

Braded steel oil feed line. (Do not tap the head for oil...Use the stock location.)
New gaskets.
J-Pipe
Took the LICP from a 1G and my old LICP and cut them both in half...I used the upper portion of the 1G hose coupled to the lower section of my 2G hose...This allowed me to run my stock SMIC till I could afford my FMIC...Eventually though I had to have the entire LICP made of metal... :dsm:

Ok, here is what I have, The turbo is comming with a S/S o2 housing with external dump so it wont have to be ported. I was also told that the EVO III doesnt need to be ported as it already has bigger openings than the reg. big 16g. I am going to port the manifold.

I havent purchased any s/s lines yet but I guess I will need to get a s/s oil feed
line (any suggestions on where to buy would be appreciated)

I ruined one of the rubber water lines when removing it, I guess i will just have to buy a new one from the dealer and then I can reuse both water lines on the new turbo.

Why should I get a different oil return line?

Thanks,
Ben

you don't *need* a new oil return line. just file the holes in your stock oil return line to match with the new turbo.....can't remember if it's filed in or out but it's pretty easy to tell.

wth is a rubber water line? you mean the rubber hosing that connects the water lines to the head? if so, just get some from any auto store

btw, an external dump is not the end all be all of boost creep. an external WASTEGATE is. but if you want to install it unported then that's your call.

i bought my SS oil feed line from SBR for 60 shipped.. but there is a tech article on how to make your own. and going to the local ACE hardware store.. i gather it to be about 30 bucks to make..

if you're reusing your aluminum POS 2g feed line then be careful with it.. i ended up bending the crap out of mine being negligant when installing  i ended up just getting a 1g line

goodluck.. and PB BLAST for 2-3 days in advance.. you'll thank yourself later for it

Ok, here is where I am right now. I just got the turbo in and it is not an EVO it a reg big 16g so it will be getting some port work before it is installed. Yes I was talking about the rubber hosing and I plan on getting one from my local parts store to replace it. The o2 housing came with the turbo as an added bonus and I know it wont completely eliminate boost creep but it cant hurt right. I will check out SBR thanks for the advice, does it replace the entire oil feed line or do I have to reuse some of it.

PS T-2small already off, lucky for me everything came off pretty easy, first job on my car that didnt require either a gorilla and a large breaker bar or a tourch

Thanks for all the help.

Oh ya one more question, when porting the o2 side of the turbo do I need to take the housing off or can I just stuff some paper towels inside to keep shavings out?

it replaces the whole thing from your oil filter housing to the turbo. you don't have to take the housing off to port the wastegate area.

It only takes about a minute to get it off so i would suggest taking it off. plus it will be easier to handle.

Thanks for all the advice, I talked to Craig over at SBR, he was a big help. I ordered my S/S oil supply line and a 34mm flapper for the waste gate. He also told me how easy it was to remove the exhaust housing and what exacly to port.

Thanks to Craig and all of you guys, I am starting on this tonight. I am so excited I can barely keep from doint the great cornholio LOL. (for those of you with dirty minds I am refering to Beavis and Butthead) I need teepee for my bunghole. I'm a dork

Thanks again,
Ben
