Just want to know how come I never here anyone talk about it??? Does it bolt right up just as a 16G would??? Do you need a FMIC and 660's to run her or could I get away with 550's and a Walbro??? How is the spool?
Sorry if I am asking a lot of stupid newbies questions but I am just trying to learn. :) Thanks in advance guys.

Looks identical and bolts up the same as a 16g. You don't need an FMIC or 660s. FMIC or upgraded SMIC would help, but its not totally needed. 450's are fine for lower boost levels, 550+cc for anything with some power. I own one, and personally would not buy one brand new. I got a damn good deal on it so that's why I did it.

Same here.

Mine is clipped 15deg so it doesn't have that "umph" instant spool of a 14B/16G. I'm sure not many people go with them brand new because for like another $150 you can get a 20G. IMO Go BIGGER:D

That's a totally different turbo than a real 18G.

So if I was to get a 20G could I get away with 550's upgraded SMIC, and a Walbro 255?? I just dont want to go bankrupt. J/K Also is the 20G more or a top end monster or will I notice it also from 3rd on???? Well can I purchase a good SMIC???? Thanks again in advance guys.

If you really want a 18G Forced Performance does sell them, I believe in the 800 range. A few awd's have gone 11's on it.
 
I had this turbo on my 90 FWD Laser and it gave me some disappointing results.......considering the mods i had..........but that may be because i was only boosting 13psi and didnt get a chance to go over that due to lack of a front mount........but a friend of mine had the same exact turbo on his 2G FWD and when it was at 20 psi he managed 276hp at the wheels.....so i assume that this turbo at maybe 25 psi and all supporting mods...(front mount/550's/pump/afc) it can definitely but down a solid 350 to the wheels......mid to low 12's for sure ......and im talking about FWD here........think of how it would perform on an AWD
 
I think 99% of us on this list would be very happy with a well tuned 16g. Most people who are just starting out should probably own this turbo. It is simple, easy to install, and can make TONS of power with the right tuning and mods.

Not to mention smaller turbos are SO EASY to tune.

Just my opinion of course!

Did your friend have stock injectors & down pipe? The bigger the turbo the bigger the injectors right? The bigger the turbo the bigger the DP right? Come on man!
 
with a big 16g, 550's, safc, and walbro, with uic, on 20psi what kind of power should i expect to be making? estimated e.t.'s (fwd)
