Hey, I was able to get a 1g intake manifold and 60mm 1g throttle body for free from a friend. I was wondering if it would be worth it to put it on my 2g head and just port match the manifold to the intake on the head. Is this worthwhile, or should I stick with stock 2g?

Very worthwhile.. Take the time to get the ports on the head matched right and you will notice a decent amount of more power. Midrange and top end will be increased noticibly.. You could go a step further if you are on a budget and add the 1G cams as well.. They offer .010 more lift and duration than the 2G cams and will offer a little bit more pull up on the top end.

Sweet. So for the cams, would I use both the exhaust and intake cams off of a 1g? I'm sure I could pick those up for dirt cheap at my local junkyard. Thanks!

hell just go all out and get the head to match the intake manifold, then youll have a very nice setup and should be easier to install (no installing cams or intake mani while the head is still in the car)

Well, the head is off the car completely. I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild and got a sweet deal on a fresh 2g head with 1mm oversize valves and fresh seats, lifters, etc. so I kinda want to use that one and not have to deal with the CAS swap and such. I normally wouldn't be messing with any head work or anything seeing as you can get great numbers from stock stuff just by tuning, but I figured since it was all apart anyways, I might as well.

it will take a LOT of porting the match the runners on the 2g head with a 1g intake mani. The size difference is so large that I don't even know how much material you will have left on the head and if it would weaken it too much. I considered this as well, but ended up just swapping on the 1g head. It's a very simple swap so I recommend you do that as well.

Very true I would just use the 1g throttle body for now. You will f-up your air flow going from the 1g intake ports to the 2g head ports. since you have your engine apart compare and you will see. You will have to make modifications to the 1g man. anyway for it to work on a 2g. go to RRE's site for more info.
