regina,
so i just finished rebuilding my engine last week and have spent the rest of the time fixing leaks and other stuff. but anyways here's the problem, i have had the car running for the last little bit but never on the road and not much longer then a few minutes at a time (due to some very massive oil leaks). with those fixed and all fluids topped up i went to start the car yesterday and "NOTHING" :barf: , barely even turned over. from what i can guess it seems like the battery is dead or the starter is gone. but the weird thing is that i had it running about 30 min before and it started fine. has anyone had this ahppen before???? or know how to fix the problem?

thanks for the space

thats true there are a lot of factors to deal with here and the more i read the more problems i think it might be. however i just finished putting an uber large amount of money and time into this motor, so my biggest concern is, well is it hooped?? mind you i can't really see that being the case since it has never really been on for more then a couple minutes at a time. but what do you guys think?????

If it barely cranks, the first things i'd do would be check battery voltage and chase all the grounds, make sure the connections are all good... If the battery has under 9.5v it won't be able to crank your 4g.

yep once again test the battery .. if it still doesn't start check all grounds ... still not then try starter. Let us know what happens when you try it again with a fully charged battery.

well so here's the deal, you guys were right with the dead battery and bad connections so thanks for the advice that was wicked good:thumb:

but now there are a couple new problems that i can't seem to figure out. the first is a knocking sound that seems to be coming from the engine. the second problem is when i put the car in gear and start taking my foot of the clutch it just dies. the third problem is a very rough idle and the occasional surge.

for prob #1) i thought that it might be a bad or loose lifter or rocker arm, so i took the valve cover off and checked all of them. well they all seemed tight to the cam shafts with zero play. therefore i ruled that out as the problem.

for prob #2) the only thing i can think of is the clutch not fully engaging or disengaging, but that just doesn't seem right to me, but i know nothing so... also my TT has a real hard time turning itself on when its in gear. it starts going then dies and then starts going and dies etc

for prob #3) my guess is a prolly some bad gas, since it was just sitting there for a very long time while i was building the engine, or i put some 650cc injectors in the car and they are making it pig ass rich and the ecu just can't adjust. however, i did take the block to a machine shop to get stroked and while it was there he took out the balance shafts, but i'm not sure whether or not he balanced the motor afterwards. now that i think about it do you think that this might be the cause for the knocking sound in prob #1???? its also now throwing a cel prolly because of this too.

if you guys have anything to say about this that would be just magical, thanks for the space

so here's what i got so far...the knocking noise was the water pump, so its hooped, and the rough idle was due to the fact that it was running waaaaaaay to rich. but i'm still having troubles trying to figure out why it still stalls as soon as i start taking my foot off the clutch.
