I got ambitious today and decided to vent my stock BOV to the air under the hood. I plugged up the hole in the turbo inlet pipe.
Seems to be working great. Very loud Pfffhhhht between shifts.
Spooling up takes slightly longer, which I compensated for w/t MBC.
Also, im getting a new turbo inlet pipe from Dejon Tool. It has no where to vent the return air from the BOV.
...
Is there any downside to doing this? And has anyone here done this w/a stock BOV?
thx

Some people can do this, some can't. When you vent to atm with the stock MAF you create a super rich condition when shifting, usually creating a big puffy cloud of black smoke. I've also heard of idle problems, but if you aren't having any problems I say go for it.

Well, it sounds real cool between shifts, but im am going to route the plumming back the way it was designed.

The downsides are these:

1. Idle Surge (only at startup) goes away in a few min.

2. As already noted, a super rich condition, there is no black smoke though.

3. Bad spool up, this used to spool up 50% faster before.
