What is a 6 bolt and 7 bolt? I heard something about crankwalk on a 6 bolt or something so I guess its the motor. Sorry if this question is very common knowledge to some of you.

Just try to do a search next time dude, this is probably the most frequantly asked question of all. Anyhow, 6 and 7 bolt refers to the number of bolts the flywheel/crank have. There are differences between the 2 and 6 bolts are usually more sought after as the 7 bolts are usually more prone to crankwalk...not the 6 bolts.

Larry,

What rule would that be? (not trying to start trouble, but just want to understand the rules...)

The only violation that I saw was rule # 3...

from the reply box.. it says

· Use the Search" is not an acceptable response by itself. Link to the answer instead.

easyest way to check for crank walk is to pull on the crank pully if it moves in and out then it most likley has crank walk the more it moves the worse the case of crank walk, trust ... i just got done with it not more than 2 days ago, and it will slow u donw as far as performance by at least 45 - 50 % it hurt me a great deal

I hade to get a whole new block...

I dont think if the drank pulley moves then you have crank walk.
Almost 2 years ago i had to change out my crank pulley b/c something hit it and alll but shatered the pulley. When i put it all on it moved but ive had no other signs of crankwalk since then. Now im not saying i wont get it but hopefully ill have a fully built 6 bolt in there before i do get it.

He DID link to the answer, in addition to providing more useful info. Don't get so carried away with this "Don't tell people to search" stuff...

J Doug.. Im not here to start problems with anyone.. Im only enforcing the rules that Chris has set forth for us moderators to abide by.

I told Candela in my reply that I appreciated the good information but for future reference to avoid telling people to search.. Thats the rule and that is the way we run this site.

Wait Wait Wait!

The rule states that "Use the Search" is not an acceptable response BY ITSELF.

candela seems to be within the guidelines here. He linked the answer, plus answered the question politely.

Now if his ONLY response was "Use the search you freakin noob!"...then yes, he would be breaking the rules.

Just my 0.02.
