1g head vs. 2g head

Now I know the 1g head provides better flow than a 2g.... But, would I notice a huge difference if I ported 2g vs. porting a 1g (sortof a retorical question, I know). But really is it worth the extra dough?

Oh yeah, if anyone is interested in buyin a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R 750 let me know. I'm sellin mine unfortunately.... it rains to much is Seattle (as I stare out the window at a rainy day)
 
to my understanding, the 1G head flows better right outta the box so to speak. The 2G head, however, has more "meat" if you will to port, so you get to sort of customize your port to match whatever design you like, and I do believe you can port the 2G head a tad bit more. So to answer your question, if you're going to be porting your head use the 2G. If not, than I'd go 1G. The big dogs use the 2G head 'cause they're pushing a whole lot of power and can exploit the slight advantage you get from porting the 2G vs. the 1G. If you're not planning on making 600+ horsepower, than I think you'd be better off with like a slightly ported 2G or a slightly ported 1G. Your signiture says your stock though, so you (and I) have a whole lot more to do before we outflow even our stock 2G heads.
Just my .02. As for me... I'm going with my 2G head (thanks rdrkt)

ive been told from many sources that the 2g head is a better flowing head.. the 1g head just flows more air because the ports are larger but the design of the 2g head is much better so its better to have a real port job done on a 2g head..
 
I agree with Larry on this one. I've also heard that the 2g head has more meat on it so to speak and can be ported more, plus its a better design, so like ditto on all of the above :)
