My new timing belt slipped on the crank sprocket and I do not know how to find where botom end timing is. The cam intake and exhaust sprokets never slipped. I don't know how far it slipped. How do I find the rite marks because I heard it could spin it 7 times and only one is rite and do you think I have any bent valves? I do not think I could afford a motor/rebuild. Your help is greatly appriciated!

The crank lines up every rotation when arrow a points at arrow b.

The oil pump sprocket lines up every 2nd rotation. You find that by pointing the arrows at each other and rotating it a half inch clockwise. If it falls toward alignment, its correct....if it falls away from alignment, it's 360 degrees off.

It is a 6 bolt motor. So if the crank it self lines up with the mark it is rite always? I must of been mistaken. I set it up the way it says then but, it still does not start so, does that mean I have bent valves and if so, what else is bad? It kind of back fires while cranking some times through the exhaust but, never starts. Is there any way to check the valves with out removing the head? Thanks guys for the help again!

double check your cam timing. when the crank is lined up the cam sprockets must have their dowels at 12 o clock and the 2 middle alignment marks must make a level line through somewhere near the center of the cam gear bolts.

if you take off your valve cover and your valves are bent, you will be able to knock rockers off the valves, The rockers should be tight between the valves and cams.

I am shure they are bent now because after installing the belt last night I did a compession check and 3 cylinders were 0 psi and one at 60 psi. I just hope the pistons are still good. I will never use a non oem timing belt ever again! Thanks again for all your help!

Befor you asume this definitly make sure that you have the valve train timed correctly. If it is way out of alignment it can do this very same thing. If you have to go get the Haynes or Chiltons manual to make sure you have it right. I used the haynes Manual for my timing belt mishap. I'm totally positive I have some bent valves. I don't have the tools for a leak down test but my compression tests show me with 155-145-145-155 from compression. So definitly make sure it's timed correctly. make sure the dowls on the cams are pointed up with you time it as they can be down and look like everything is fine when you line everything up. Good luck and if you do have some bent valves I feel for ya.
