What mods are absolutely necessary for a big 16G?

I looked at the Tuning Guide before posting here. Are the 14 mods listed before turbo upgrade necessary before getting a Big 16G?

Additionally, is a FMIC needed for a larger turbo, or will a larger SMIC work?

They are all there for a reason dude. They arent completely necessary but IMO should be done. It depends on what type of boost youll be running with the 16g to determine exactly what you need. But whos the boss anyway, you could just run the 16g with nothing more than a rewire or something, its up to you. These perfromance guides are very helpful, logical and will help you acheive pretty ood power if you follow them and will let you maximize each and every step/upgrade you perform...;)

That's sort of what I was asking. Thanks for the info.

How much psi would those 14 mods allow me to run?

For a while, I ran a small 16g with no upgrades whatsoever, other than K&N filter and MBC.

My 14b died, so I replaced it with the obvious choice for what I had. As long as you don't run the boost too high (I wouldn't go over 14 psi or so with the 16g without a rewire), you'll be fine.

I now have done the fuel pump rewire, and run okay at 15 psi, though I don't have any sort of logger yet, so I don't push it.

Getting the minimum mods "abselutely necessary" to run a turbo is the wrong way to go about it.

You won't be happy.

It wasn't a plan that I wanted to do, it was more like a checklist of things I should make sure to do IN ADDITION to things I want to do.

If that made any sense at all.

Makes sense,,,that what I did.
This is what I (my opinion only...) would want as my minimum mods for a 16g ; fuel pump, intercooler piping, mbc, some sort of intake and at leist a cat-back exhaust. You can run a 16g no problem w/ no supporting mods, but whats the point of doing that as your 14b will produce more low end and have more usability. With those mods you could run like 16-17psi on pump alright (hopefully 93).
