Well some time next weekend I plan on taking the car down to my buddies shop for a serious porting session. I want to port the turbo, exhaust mani, and o2housing, possibly a bit on the intake mani and gut my cat. I would like to say I have no clue how to do any of this but my friend is a mechanic and will be there to assist and lend tools. I am just broke for the moment so i am doing all the things that are free right now. Can any one tell me how long it should take to do all this, and expectable gains in output? Oh yeah and throw me some good vfaqs tips if you got em, thanks

on a side note, last week I made the home made boost leak tester and heard some leaks in the throttle body, is that common? Or should the intake track be literally completely air tight? Thanks guys

There are a few links. I have ported all of the above also, It is not hard, Just time consuming. It take awhile, Just make sure you dont go to thin, You can feel the inside/outside with your fingers to make sure it's not paper thin so it does not crack.
You should feel a difference with all of these parts ported and the cat gutted, Spool up should be a bit faster and come on stronger.

About the boost leaks, No. There should be no air leaks, Try to fix them. You should notice a difference once all leaks are also fixed.

A good port should take you 8-9 hours, have fun.

Make sure you wear goggles, getting a piece of metal in your eye IS NOT fun. Take my word for it, I was a dumb-ass and didn't wear them for the first 5 hours of the port job.

just got done with the cat, only took an hour. Very minimul performance gains and absolutely no change in sound, I thought the check engine would turn on due to the second o2 but no luck thus far.

DSM mechanix, did you mean 9 hours for every thing or just on piece. I certainly hope you meant every thing LOL, and is that with pnumatic tools or electric cause I will be using high pressure pnumatic tools.

When I did my port work I used an eletric drill and these bits i bought at lowes, there is like 6 diff ones in a pack. If you want it to be done right, And dont to the max, It will take no less then 8 hours.

You guys think I should have the t25 clipped? I figure it'll be down for the week end, get the port job done then send it to the shop and get it clipped.

9 hours for a good port job of the manifold, turbine housing, and o2 housing. Of course if your using air tools and your compressor isn't sufficient, it can take longer. I like to use an electric die grinder.
