PSI installed my timing belt and they put it on backwards! = blown engine (3rd time they blew my engine)

I need some advise.

Anyone know the cost of having a 6 bolt built with eagle rods/ross pistons, good head gasket, 1g heads???

What else is needed for a 7 bolt/6 bolt swap?

Labor?

Options?

Need advice on how to pursue, I'm not looking to spend more than $3K.

Thanks.

Arp head studs, 1g ported head, forged pistons, rods, 6 bolt block...am I missing anything?

Not to go off-topic but you let someone who blew your engine once work on it again?? and then again??

I spent loot the first time, then they said they would handle it, (then later charged me) then it blew again, I threatened suit, they said they would do all work for free, and low and behold I get it back and it blows again.

yeah, i have had some bad experiences with Extreme PSI too. i am just no happy with the way how they handle customers...i will never ever deal with them again..if u guys have any request, i suggust u go www.slowboyracing.com best place for DSMers.

As we were saying...What is the best set up to run on a 97 g-st as far as engime block and internals?

Your probably going to end up spending around $1500-$2000 to get the job done right. Get eagle rods, ross pistons, find a 6 bolt from the junkyard, bore it .020 over with torque plate, install oil squirters, get new oil gears, remove balance shafts, have it decked, tanked, recondition the crankshaft, new crank/rod bearings, magnaflux everything for cracks, new valves, valve job, new guides, new springs, new revised lifters, get new water pump, new timing belt tensioner, goes on and on. Its not cheap. If you build up a six bolt, your NOT going to be just changing the pistons and rods LOL. There is alot of stuff that you need to do to get the motor back into shape. This is a little off topic, but how can you but on the timing belt "backwards"? I dont think that is possible, unless you are referring to the timing being off.

if its a used timing belt you can put it on backwards since its supposted to go on the same way it cam off. If its new it shouldn't make a difference. But i wouldn't let them guys touch another one of my motors again.

In my opinion, you should never, ever, ever, ever re-use the timing belt. Maybe if the timing belt had like only 1000-2000 miles on it I'd consider reusing it, but if this is after like 30k miles I really don't why they didnt just buy another one. If the timing belt snaps your motor will either be completely destroyed or you will need a rebuild. If they re-used your timing belt then these are the most incompetent DSM people I have ever heard of.

That's the answer I was looking for. Are you sure this can be done for $2K-$2.5K with labor????

I don't know.

look to spend around 750-1000 for machine work, anywhere from 200-800 on oem parts(depending on what you reuse, I like to get as much new as possible), about 750 for eagle/wiseco combo. A six bolt block can be had from 50-300 depending on how hard you look. Dont turn the crank, just get it polished. If its bad, get a new crank, dont turn it. If you cant do the labor yourself its going to get really expensive.

I would say if you cant do the labor yourself expect to pay 4.5k

If you can do the labor yourself you could easily do it under 2.0k

In buying a block do I get a 6 bolt long block (does that mean it includes the 1g heads?) or a short block?

What's the difference? Is the rebuild more difficult for a shortblock? Or will I be replacing all the longblock parts anyway???

HELP?

a shortblock is just the block, and internals. a longblock is the block AND the head. what exactly 'blew' in your motor?

a shortblock is just the bottom end. Usually you just get a short block.

A long block is everything.

I would find out EXACTLY what went wrong. I believe this is your 2nd or 3rd blown motor. I sense a pattern. Take your time, build it right once with the right parts, and never have to build it again. Find out what failed and why, make sure you dont make the same mistake.
