I though this was rather nifty when I did it. It's pretty simple actually, just required lengthening the harness a little bit and shortening the ignition wires to fit right. The mounts are just 2 8" strips of 1" x 1/8" aluminum. The FRH manifold required moving the coils someplace else and I've experimented with few other spots, but I like this one the best.

How did you shorten the plug wires?

I have a Magnus and have my coils on the firewall and I had to buy 2 sets of wires. So just got Taylor 8mm. Would like to go to a setup like yours if I could shorten a set of Magnecore 10mmm

I just kind of pried them apart at the end where they meet the coils using a set of needlenose pliers. Worked well.

sure it isnt going to melt sitting on the valve cover?
the stock coils on my evo don't melt.

Plus, I've been driving like this for a couple weeks now and have had zero problems. Those coils are made to put up with a fair amount of heat.

What would be the main advantages of doing this and leaving them stock as opposed to a real coil on plug setup? Could you really tell a difference in anything between stock and what you did?

real COP setups are very expensive. I'm cheap so I did the best I could. It wasn't really intended as a performance enhancement, just a better place to mount the coils to keep things clean. Naturally, the car feels exactly the same with the coils in the new location.
