Alright, yes I have an exhaust leak. There is a large crack on top, and then worse. Two studs are broken on the left side of the manifold, so the manifold flaps and is extremely loud when idling. I am in the process of getting a ported 2G mani. and while I'm putting that on, I'm going to replace those studs. The question is, can that exhaust leak really hurt performance that much?

Brian

Edit: Yes it can. Fix them as soon as possible!

Ok now you have less clamping force holding your ex. manifold on which weakens the remaining few. Hot gases will melt (plastic, wires, paint) things, don't boast about beating trucks that lame.
Not fixing it know will only lead to more problems in the future.

:thumb: that pretty much sums it up! GET IT FIXED ASAP! Sure it may be "fine" for a while but....... why wait and see.

Yeah, I'm getting a new exhaust mani. within the next week, so it won't be too long now.

When I'm think'n Ford Super Duty Turbo I picture a Tubro desiel with seating for six and 6 field workers in the back throwing cabbage heads at you when you try to pass with badly leaking 1400 degree exhuast burning up your engine bay :p . Yes some trucks are bad (cyclone, SRT V10 dodge), but they are still trucks and probly still out weigh you by a half ton and like I said nothing to brag about. Having a high performance truck is like giving a boob job to Rosie O'Donell. Good theroy, but disapionting when it come to form and function.

I was told with a big enough leak that the exhaust gases to melt or disfigure the exhaust ports on the head because it's aluminum....but the whole head is aluminum.....maybe it's just because of the way it's comen out. I've never tried it to find out wether it's true or not :p

I got embarrased by a 03 Powerstroke with work done to it, it weighs 4 times what my car does. With mods on them they are fast f*ckers, I wouldn't race one again.

ok yes an exhaust leak b4 the turbo will cuz slower spool. But yea some turbo diesal trucks are fast... just chips give them over an extra 100hp. But guess wut..... They are geared for towing and hauling. And are made to put down like 400+ ft/lbs of torque...SO if you out pull it then brag. They only rev to like 4k
