What are some good things to remove out of a 2G GST that could reduce weight like AC compressor etc.?

seems like a lot of people on this forum look at weight reductions as ghetto and rice. i'd say removing the ac equipment and spare tire are good places to start. maybe the rear seat since it's next to useless. keep your trim and carpetting, since you really won't notice that 8 or 10 lbs anyway.

I posted my answer somewhere else, but I'll put it here too!

Easy weight losses:
- Canadian seatbelts. Toss the motor assembly. Saves about 40 pounds.
- Spare and tools. Another 40 pounds.
- Smaller amperage battery. Maybe ten pounds?
- Cruise control. Lots of weight there.
- A/C
- Carbon fiber hood (25 pounds difference?)
- Rear seat, belts

Tougher weight losses:
- Doors. Go to manual window lifts
- Doors - remove the crush beams
- Power steering - go to manual

Good luck

Kyle

Basically just tear up your whole interior and scrap up all the sound deading material from the floor pan and all the foam like insulation then put your carpet and seats back in. If you have the money, get some lexan and replace your windows. :) That would be nice. Get some rac seats, definately lighter than leather and cloth.

You could get rid of your front seats and get race seats, that saves anywhere from 30-60 lbs depending on what year car you have an whether or not you have power seats, leather, etc. I had leather power seats in my GSX and I got rid of about 50 lbs. of weight w/ my race seats. The backseat weighs like 3 lbs., so your not saving much there.

Jesus Krist Tjh... I thought your car was bad-ass before! Now that Ive seen your interior Im absolutely in love! THat is definetly one of the baddest 2g's Ive ever seen, great work...

(these products are high quality hoods are 3 layers of carbon not just 1 like the average aftermarket company gives u)

Im currently working on getting my website up,

Bill
Got Tude Designs

Yes they do but also are 3 layers on top we had some girls pose on top the cars hoods for a photo shoot and the hood didn't even quiver =)

Our hoods are more expensive then competitors, built better and much stronger , but we can build u the same hood our compititors will sell u for half the price of our thick hood which is slightly cheaper or the same price as the rest of the hoods on the market.

I personally weighed each and everything I took off my car. My right front tan leather passenger seat weighed in at 38lbs, spare tire, jack and tire tool 41lbs, back seat cushion 10lbs, back seat back rests 7lbs each, test-pipe for catalytic converter swap, I saved 12lbs. I currently still use my drivers side leather seat, but I weighed it at 41lbs, 3 more pounds than what the passenger seat weighed in at. I also plan on a carbon fibre hood down the road, swapping to a light weight dry cell battery such as the Hawker from Oddysey. I actually like my car better without all of that stuff. I have more room! Although I do have to put in the passenger seat when the wife wants to ride.

so all together the backseats weigh 25 pounds. damn I was going to gut the car but 25 pounds is nothing.

Correct! If that's all your planning on removing then yes it isn't going to help much. But just removing the back seat and back rests isn't exactly what I would call totally gutting the car either. Every little bit helps though if your into speed. It's a rule of thumb that every 100lbs that you remove from your car will take a tenth off of your 1/4 mile time, and 1 tenth is a car length. Removing weight from a rotating mass such as wheel and tire combo will help even more. If you drive a Honda then you should already know this, because most Hondas that I have seen that are fast are usually gutted. Not all but most.

why is the hatch only for the 92-94? i thought that they were the same all through the 1g's. and what about a 1Ga cf or fiberglass hood? im posting this here for people to see. and also is there a website yet?
peace

im gonna get more pics next week and hopefully i can get some closer ones,

heres what the manufacturer has got up at the moment
www.squidskins.com

im not familar with 1g's he had it listed as 92-94 so thats what i stuck with if its the same i can change it

my prices are not the same as ww.squidskins.com and if u buy more then 1 product ill give u a discount accordingly,

group buys get discounts also,

we are working ona cf air bag cover at the moment if anyone is interested there will be a group buy on it at asog i beleive is where he was from

if u want a 1g 91 hood get atleast 2 -3 people together that want one send us a hood and we'll make it , we *can* make singular stuff we'd prefer to have a minimum of 2 people to get the custom stuff so we can recoop the mold prices...

thanks and hit me up with a pm or email if u got questions still...
