Hey everyone..I gotta quick question..I have a 92 GSX and have been looking into getting my exhaust done. The setup i want to go with is an Ported Evo 3 manifold with a 3 inch turbo back exhaust..I'm thinking either Apexi or Thermal..I want something that is going to be deep and not loud..I'm Basically looking for Max HP gains! Would i need to get an O2 elminator DP or go with an evo 3 o2 housing?? I would really appreciate anyone's input...thanks..dan

It all depends on your budget, many people have had good results with a simple ported 2G 02 housing. If you do decide to go the Evo 02 housing route you will have to get a dp that is made to work with it. The Evo 02 has a bit more of a side to side angle on it than the stock 02 manifold, thus any exhausts made to work with the stock manifold won't line up correctly. There are many other options out there also, you can go the tubular route and get either a 02 dump or recirculated back into the exhaust. I believe that the Evo along with the 2G 02 housing can only be ported out to 2.5" on the outlet. My exhaust goes from a 2G ported 02 housing to a 2.5" first bend and then 3" from the oil pan back. I did this to avoid a step at the 02 housing b/w the 2.5" outlet and 3" dp. The Evo 02's are going for about $150 while you can probably get a 2G 02 housing for less than $100 and port it yourself. The real test of the 02 housing is how it lines up with the turbo and the dp. I have a Evo 3 16G turbo and gasket matched the 02 housing so that there would be no steps to create turbulance. You must also funnel out the 02 housing to match the dp. THe most expensive housing in the world will kill your flow if the surfaces don't match up right. I have no experiance with 02 eliminators and won't guess on their performance. There is all I really know about 02 housing and though I might not have answered your specific question I hope that some of the info will help you out a bit. And as for the sound, the bigger diameter of the pipe the more deep the sound. I built my own 3" with no cat and one resonator and it sounds deep, loud deep but deep none the less.

Well any non resticted 3" exhaust is going to be loud when you get on it. the only really way around it is put a high flow cat on it and it will quiet it down some. It will be deep sounding at idle thew 25% trottle but thats it. Just put it this way it will be alittle deeper than a street bike with a performance muffler when you put the hammer down. Both apex and Thermal are great exhausts but I feel thermal is a bit deeper at idle but I would put eather on my car. What turbo are you going with? Do you want to spend the extra money to run an external WG? We need to know these to recomend what to go with for your O2 housing.

I have a 3" O2 eliminator DP. I (have) run both a 3" cat and 3" test pipe with my A'pexi N-1. IT is definitely louder with the test pipe, but not unbearably so as the N-1 has a resonator as well as a muffler. The Thermal does not, so it will be even louder. I have heard several DSMs with this setup and I don't like it, so I'm happy with the N-1.

Well, I'm looking for the most follow. I was told that an Evo 3 ported mani would be the best to go with. I'm thinking about a 20g? I'd like to see 11's out of my car. I ran it up at our local track and it ran 14.0 at 105. All I have done is MAF hack, K&N, Fuel Pump Re-wire, MBC and TB elbow smoothed out, I took a dremel to it. haha.

Anyways, with what's been done, which is not a lot I think 14 flat is pretty good. I just want the most flow with my exhaust and not for it too be too loud. I mean, I got a "excessive noise/loud exhaust ticket" with my GTX. I mean come on.

I really appreciate your guys input. I'm kinda new with the whole DSM thing. Thanks again, and keep posting.

Dan
