How to tell difference between 16g and 18g?

Is the # on the 18g compressor different?

If so, what is it?

I am gonna be checking out an 18g this weekend, and i just wanted to make sure that i knew that it was an 18g, since they look so similar

I know the wheel is bigger, but not having a 16g to compare, its hard to tell.

I know the numbers between small and big 16g's are differnt, so i figured the 18g would be different too

Should say Greddy on the compressor housing on the 18G. The 16G will have staggered fin unlike your 14B.

Wha? Only a turbo from a GReddy turbo kit will say GReddy on it. He could easily have a factory MHI turbo that doesn't have that logo, only the three diamond logo.

Uhhhhh, the big16g and the small16g look exactly the same on the outside, the only diff. is the compressor. The "g" in the name of MHI turbos means that the blades are staggered, sorry no comparison there, (that is why a 14B isn't staggered). It is going to be pretty tough to tell, but the compressor will be a whole lot bigger in the 18g, so bring some pics off the net of a big16 and make sure it looks even larger on the supposed 18g.

Unless your getting it for lower than dirt cheap, dont buy it, the 18g is a crappy turbo.

Its a factory mitsu turbo so i just wanted to know, i like the 18g

It says49178 05200 i think thats a small 16g right?

Its nice, its from FP, but i dont think its an 8g

May I ask why you like the 18g?

Is it is nasty comressor inefficiency, or its usually overpriced nature?
