Hey guys, which one do you think would be best?

A ported evo16g? or an FP18g, ported and clipped that they sell

I Have all the supporting mods, nice, beefy custom FMIC, safc, 190pump, 550cc injectors(may may possibly go to 650c if absolutely necessary), 3" downpipe with 3" cat, exhuast, etc.....

Its a FWD

THe 18g is gonna come out to about $150-200more

Is it worth it? Its from FP, its ported and clipped, so it should be the best 18g setup possible, since those guys do good work.

I have seen a few LOW 300whp 16g setups

Will i be able to sqeeze about 350whp REALISTICALLY from the 18G

THe only reason im not jumping all over the 20g or 50trim is because of lag, i dont want to spool any later then 3500rpm just because this is mainly my daily driver

What's your budget? The L1R and the FP 2544 (something like that) flow like a 20g but spool at about 3300 rpm, you may want to look at those options. As for the 50-trim, if you get the .48 size exhaust housing it should spool around 3500-3600 rpm. There are a few guys on here who have that housing, and they could tell you more.

i would say the lag wouldn't be that much less than the 20g since its ported and clipped. but as far as other things go i couldn't tell ya. My guess is it would be about the same but you should try and research a lil more. I've seen a websight that has all the statistics of each turbo (such as cfm, max boost, estimated power, blah blah) but i forgot what it was. I would lean more towards the 18g, but then you couldn't brag about your big 20g.

DO NOT CLIP YOUR TURBO.

Clipping is a throw back to the old days when we couldn't get anything but 1 exhaust side of the turbo. Therefore to match the "hot" side with the "cold" side clipping was done.

If you even contemplate that you need to clip a turbo you need to first consider a different turbine or housing.

other than that both turbos will work....what exactly do you see as a difference?

I would go with the evo16g. Its very impressive, and shouldnt be much less capable than an 18g.

I have a FP18g ported & clipped 10 deg. I can build up 10lbs of boost at dead stop & come out of the hole smokin the tires & yes my car is an a/t. I run with a friend of mine that runs 8.40's in the 1/8 & i still have the stock injectors & no tuning what so ever. I have full boost by 3300-3400. The evobig16g may spool just a hair faster but the fp18g is gonna pull it in mid range & top end.

there was just a thread a while ago on 50trim vs 20g and the 50trim kicked its ass pretty bad. i would look into the AGP or FP 50 trims before you make a decision. or even call AGP and talk to them im sure they would help you pick out what is right for you

You should be able to do 350whp on either turbo on race gas. I made 314whp/329tq on stock 450cc injectors and no fuel control with a evo 16g at only 22-23psi. Then with a extremely blown headgasket and a little more boost I made 324/345tq.

If you are looking to achieve this power on pump gas then I think you will have a hard time.

I don't mean to change the subject, but has anybody had any expierience with the FP Sleeper 16G? It looks interesting from the info they have on their site. Anybody have one or know of them?
