I have two questions here, I have bought a lot of mods lately and now I need a fuel computer to tune it out,so I was got on ebay today to buy a apexi safc and I saw the older Apexi afc units with the turn dials, do those do the same job as the newer blue screen bling bling ones???? I can pick one of the older ones up for around $100 less than the blue screen model.....And my last question, is there really that much differance in the safc and the safc2, enough differance that I could tell in HP???

Everyone ive seen sais the first afc was easier to use and most people are i know are runnin low 12s and shit with it so it must be ok. i think the afcII gives u a few more fuel settings and it has a learning mode or soemthing like that. Btw where did ya get one for a 100 bucks :p

I have seen a few on ebay for around $100-$115....I am ready to buy a fuel computer now,TODAY, and I do not want to screw up and get somthing that is not going to work very well,,, I have looked into the GM MAFT setup and I think I will go with the Apexi AFC.

So the older Apexi AFC units do the same thing as the new SAFC2  Just not quite as good.

And are the newer 04 Apexi SAFC2 units worth the extra costs over the 03 SAFC units??

Please advise, I am buying one today or tommorrow...........

The SAFC gives you more car info and lets you get up the fuel curve at 8 points...
The SAFC2 is all the above plus 11 points set up and an anti-stall feature if you want to run a BOV that vents out into the engine bay.....

If you have a simple set up then a simple fuel COMp is easy and worth it .
if you have more complicated set up the safc might be the better choise...
ALSO dont forget THE HKS systems ... you can find a used system for around $120-150

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tem=2479597850&category=33553&sspagename=WDVW

it has the same features as the SAFC2 + a RISC chip but without the fancy dispaly....

ALSO NOTE TUNING IS DONE BEST WITH A digital A/F gauge.... try this one.....

An EGT gauge IF you really want to cut a close A/F ratio check out the company from th above link they have a digital system as well....

good luck

uhh its best to tune with a WIDEBAND setup..not some ebay crap digital readout guage that just telling you what your factory o2 sensor is reading.

now about the question. AFAIK the old turn knob afc has preset rpm points that you are given to adjust at, which kinda sucks. with the blue screen safc it allows you to chose the rpm points, high/low throttle, ect. so you can get a more fine tune. the safcII lets you have a couple more points to adjust at and a few more options, but the STUPID turn dial adjusting knob that it has makes it really frustrating and annoying to use. i would spend a little extra and just get the safc with the blue screen opposed to the cheaper old turn dial afc, or the new annoying safcII.

trust me on the safcII, ive got it and cant stand it. i would try and trade it for the regular safc if i had the motivation to go take it out of my car

Great reply but I think ( How about the older Apexi afc w/dials @$100) he was looking for more options on a budget ..... 100 bucks thats like a tank of gas now a days LOL

Thank You for the answer on the older Apexi's, and yes I will spend the extra $100 for the blue screen SAFC1, Trust me I am used to spending the money when needed, I 've spent $1,650 so far in mods/parts. I just want to get my fuel and fuel tuning over with so I can crank up the boost and see what she will do. Again thanks for the advise, I am buying one tonight.
