If ran the agp l2r on the street here in cali would I have a hard time tuning it with 91 octane?Of course Ill have 550's and a afc .just want to make sure this turbo is not to big for the street.Thank you

I have an L2R. It is not too big for the street. But it is a huge turbo. Yiou will not have a problem, but you will have to kep the boost, I say, at no more than 15psi. Also, I would use larger injectors than 550s. Go with 650s, or 660s. I use 625s, and have not had any problems. The Ball and disk style injectors would probably betifit you. You will just have to be discliplined in not turning up the boost on 91 piss water. Im lucky here in PA, we have 94, and even a few that sell 100 right out of the pump.

i would suggest injectors larger then 550 as well. I dont think you would have problems with this as a street turbo but I think with the air this turbo is supposed to push you should really be looking into larger injectors. I run Bosch 660s in mine

*sigh*
supporting mods? If yes, then it's not too big. Too "big" is a reletive term. Don't listen to this guy who has never even tuned on 91 octane. Take info from the source. I run 20psi daily on 91 octane. Just because somebody doesn't know how to tune doesn't mean you have to listen to him. But 15psi on an L2R should be plenty of power for you. If you can afford to upgrade to larger injectors it would be a wise move, but 550's will be enough fuel for limited boost.

The larger your intercooler the better. The bigger your exhaust the better.

I have an L2R and all I get is 91 octane. In over 100 degrees you are not running 20psi daily more like 18. Less than 100 degrees and 20psi is fine. 550's will not be enough.

Chime...

Here's my view on the question, and then my information to back it up:

-| If ran the agp l2r on the street here in cali would I have a hard time tuning it with 91 octane?

-> No, I began tuning the L2R @ 18 psi, and am currently running (as of 4 days ago) running 20 psi w/ no signs of knock on the link and normal EGTs. This on Arizona 91 octane ... so it can be done.

-| Of course Ill have 550's and a afc .just want to make sure this turbo is not to big for the street.

-> With the help of a friend we determined with any decent amount of boost, let's say > 18 psi, I put my RC 550s at an injector duty cycle percentage not usually sought after - which was > 85% during pulls. So, we've since put in some injector clinic 750cc ball/disc injectors and during a pull @ 22psi I see nothing higher than 74.2%.

So, as already said .. if you go with the turbo, go with some larger injectors as well.

Side note about 625cc/min injectors.

The Seimens injectors that are being sold as 625cc/min injectors are actually only flow 550cc/min at 3bar fuel pressure. That's a 550cc/min injector by everyone elses measurements. The benefit of these over other 550's is that they are designed for very high fuel pressure applications (diesel I believe) and thus have stronger/quicker internals. They react quick enough to operate at slightly higher duty cycles w/o going static. This is the reasoning for the advertised "625cc/min." The bottom line is that they don't flow 625cc/min.

I am only adding this to the discussion so that someone can make the correct injector selection. Sure would suck to spend that money and then still have too little fuel.

My car likes about 21.5 on the L2R/91 octane. It's pretty much tuned for 0 knock from run to run I will occasionally see 7-10, but I think that may be caused by various other factors, fuel tip in with the 660's, etc. It behaves the same at 20 psi.

Correct me if im wrong larry, but bosch doesnt make 660's...mine r bosch and they r 650's i do believe. Same ones extreme turbo sells. Not tryin to start anything just curious

Well just so you know I happen to live in Vacaville and I have a 60-1 hybrid and with my 750's and AFC leaned to -30 she is still running a bit rich..... I'm running about 18 psi on high boost and it IS on 91 octane :D ....my car is not fully tuned yet since I want to put the HK$ cams before my trip to the AWD dyno and tune it to 20psi......... by the way shot an email when you have a chance maybe we can meet up by looking at your user name and location I'm pretty sure you are AF ;)
