I need to replace my power steering pump. It looks easy but is there a bleed or anything i need to get the air out of the lines? Or anything i need to be aware of when replacing it? I think im gonna try tonight when i get off of work. thanks in advance, Justin

just removing the pump you wont get any substantial air into the system because its located at the highest point of the hose routing.

get a cup and some rags because fluid is gonna drain out of the rubber lines when you pull them off the pump.

to make life easy... turn the motor by hand at the crank... and line up the 2 holes in the PS pump pulley so you can get a socket onto the bolts that are behind the pulley. once you get those 2 bolts loose.... then go ahead and loosen the remaining bolts.

simple swap........ nothing to watch out for

when your done just fill it back up.... start the car for a few minutes to circulate the fluid........ then recheck the fluid level on the dipstick.

Ok well i put the new/used pump on and it didnt solve the problem. It started squeakin and squealin about a week ago. I figured it was my power steering belt so i replaced it. NOPE. I then replaced my alternator belt. NOPE. Alrighty, Ill try replacing the pump itself, my buddy had a used working one. NOPE. Well damn, what is it? I was thinking it could be the other belt, a/c. My damn a/c doesnt even work. I would like to pull the entire system out but i heard that takes a while without the engine out. And the belt looks like a #@%#@%#@%#@%#@% to change compared to the others. Could i just cut the belt off and leave it off since i dont care about a/c? Or if anybody has any suggestions on what the damn squeling is when i start the car. Yeah i forgot to add that, it only squeaks/squeals when i first start the car when its cool. Any suggestions? thanks, for the help

make sure all your belts are rock solid tight. Alt. belts are famous for that on these cars. The P/S belt is a vbelt. It would be a lower pitched noise. The alt. belt will give you a high pitched squealin. It will also leave rubber dust all over the place. Tighten up all your belts.
