I can't make up my mind, 20g or T4. I've heard good things about both but I realy don't know wich one to go with.

My goal is to be hitting around 450hp at the wheels, i have been told both can do it, but wich one would do it better or easyer?

If i do go with a T4 could i still use my ported Evo III 02 housing?

go with that

Ceramic ball bearings?? I don't think so. BB's are made out of metal, not composite. BB is an option in some Garrett Center sections. I believe some turbine's have been made out of ceramic composite, for weight reduction, but they are very expensive, race only, fragile pieces.

Garrett T4's have actually been around for a very long time. The benifit of this is there are LOTS of compressor wheel choices to customize the turbo to your specific needs.

A full T4, is a very big turbo. Guy's like John Sheppard and Sean Glazer run 9's with full T4's. What "I hope" you're talking about is a T3/T4 Hybrid. This type of turbo uses a T4 Compressor housing with a T3 turbine housing. This combination works well on the street as well as the track. Some newer T3/T4's use Mitsubishi Turbine housings which bolt up to the OE Mitsu Manifolds, making installation easy(er).

The 20G is a tried and true option, that has been proven to be very capable in knowledgable hands, and plenty fast in "un-knowledgable" hands as well.

Good luck,

the one i was looking at was, I belice, a full T4. here is the info
Model: Garrett T04B
60 A/R compressor side
1.00 A/R turbine side

a t4 with a 1.0 a/r turbine, you'll have that spooled up by the 17th of Never...

it kinda sounds like you'd be in too deep doing a garrett conversion, go with the 20g.

I have a T3/T4 60trim cold side .63 A/R stage 2 exhaust side. I have had it on for about a week. It starts to spool at 2500 rpms and really gets going at 4500 rpms. I like it more than the 16g I took off. I still need to do some more mods before I can really crank it up. It's at 14psi now.

The good thing about a 20G is it basically bolts on. My Garret swap to alot of time. I had to make alot of my own parts But I did it for about $700.00 that includes the turbo and deltagate.

If I were looking for a ~400HP turbo I'd look at a Garret T3/TO4E 50trim. That turbo flows quite a bit and the compressor map is very wide. It should work well for a lot of different combinations. From the guy who wants a new turbo but has to run 15psi b/c he doesn't have the supporting mods, to the guy who has a setup to run some low 11's. The Super 50 trim is made for even more boost if you need more than a low-20psi turbo. I'd go w/ a .63A/R housing on the exhaust for a street car that does it's share of track duty. You could go w/ a larger A/R housing on the turbine side if you really need those extra ponies on topend later on.

The Garrett's are very durable turbo's and can be had for similar prices as the 20G. Plus, if you ever have to rebuild the thing it's dirt cheap. Upgrading is pretty cheap too. Very versatile turbo's. AND, they look a lot cooler under the hood. :)

So many choices tho. It's up to you to decide what you really need tho. Personally, I'd get everything else done b4 the turbo. You can get a lot out of other mods too. Especially if your current turbo is in good shape. Think intake, FMIC, hard piping, exhaust, DP, ported head, injectors, fuel pump/system, tuning parts. Lots of those can be done for the price of a turbo. And when you're ready for a turbo upgrade you'll get the most out of it.

Hey I have a t04b turbo, not sure on the specs but how will it run. I foolishly bought it off ebay with out knowing a lick about turbos. All I know is that the t04b is hardly talk about on this site. Did I get the wrong turbo for my car?

What about those 20g conversions i hear about it cant be the same thing can it?? Like extreme says they will turn your 16g or frank series turbo to a 20g

Mr. Samples you are in a ton of trouble if you are deciding between a rather large T4 and a medium sized turbo like a 20g. These turbos will require very different supporting mods. The best advice that I can give you is do a lot more research and maybe talk to a turbo vendor and ask them their opinion. Apparently you missed this sticky at the top of the forum. Why don’t you review that as well before you ask us our opinion.

scrap both of those, in my opinion. there are only three choices. ETE32 *haters keep quiet* or if you really what to be one bad ass mofo, get the L2R or SBR-GT12 . you can keep those slow spooing bandwagon turbos. this is going to be a street car no? you want somthing that is going to spool quick... yes? and flow a ton on the top..right. ETE32,SBR-GT12 or L2R that's it.:thumb:
