Anyone running 2G Pistons on the 1G?

Hey all, I have an extra 6-bolt block I'm going to rebuild for my 1G. I'm comtemplating going with the higher compression 2G Pistons. Anyone have these pistons on their 1G? Looking for any feed back you can offer, to include modifications necessary and performance. Finally, any benefits from going 10 or 20 over on the rings?

Thanks,
Danny

I have this set up in my GVR4, it doesn't save you much since you're gonna have to pay to get the rods machined to accept the 2G pins. I'd say have the motor bored .020" over and get the rings and pistons to match. Buy the pistons first so the shop can machine the bores perfectly to the pistons. The 2G's are great for longevity and quietness. Do they make more power than the standard 1G pistons? I don't know, I doubt such a small compression change will make much of a difference. Looking back I think I wished I'd have either saved the money and gone with 1G pistons or gone all out with Ross or SRP pistons and good rods.

Of course it will make a difference. 7.8:1 compared to 8.5:1 is a big jump in compression ratio of a turbocharged car. As long as your tuning is right, you will be making more power with the 2G pistons on the exact same set-up for a 1G.

Just grab a set of Wiseco's and save yourself the trouble of having to get them machined. In the end you are going to pay about the same price.

I noticed a little more power when not boosting with 95 pistons. I like the little extra ummmph without having to spool. I have no issues with them.

Great feedback so far, I would love more power off the boost. Some one mention Wiseco pistons, anyone know what they run as well as to what compression they are.

Thanks,
Danny

Yeah but like I said it won't make much of a difference and if he's on a tight budget the 1G's will be fine.
