Hey.

I'm about to buy a 95 :dsm: Eclipse GSX.
The owner tells me that the trans has been rebuilt, and that the clutch has been replaced.

Also the GSX has recived a turbo upgrade, to a 16g, I don't know the make for got... and that the car is boosting at 20psi, I went for a test drive, it was plenty fast, with some turbo lag, I asked the owner if there was any internal mods, owner said no.

Now thats a red flag b/c I have heard about some DSM owners buying a Aftmarket turbo and droping it in, and they blow there engine.

And what I'm going to do once I buy it is buy a turbo timer so that I can lower the bost to a safe level

Right now the enigne runs great, but my question is will is cuase in problem down the road.

Thanks for reading, and the help.

Peace.

At 20 psi, you will need bigger injectors, FPR, and an AFC. Does the car have those items? If not, that car will soon be joining mine in the sick bay.

A 16G @ 20 PSI is fine, and as long as he's got the supporting mods it won't compromise engine reliability. Many people on this board are near or at 200,000 miles with their modded DSM's. Just make sure he knew what he was doing.

Huh? a turbo timer has nothing to do with boost.

find out what fuel system upgrades he has done. Also what about the intercooler? The stock sidemount can't run safely at 20 psi ... 17 seems to be a good spot to be at for the 16g.

20psi is just fine. I would buy a boost controller and lower it for everyday driving then jack it up for saturday night.

can i ask how much they want and the miles?

The reason I ask is that I have a 95 talon tsi awd that I wil be looking to sell this fall and I just want to get an idea for what the cars are going for.

Your looking to sell it in fall, why?

if you don't mind me asking, oh he's going to have to bring the price down b/c it needs about 1000 $ of body work done.

Brace yourself, I might be leaving the great DSM Club in favor of the WRX STI. But I'm still considering the Evo VIII. It's just that the great satan here in Des Moines, is more evil than usual.

I've got a black 95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD with 82,000 miles that I will be asking $6,000 with the following mods:

17" Primax rims
Sumitomo 65,000 mile performance tires (55 profile)
TurboXS manual boost control
Injen Intake
2.5" turbo back exhaust (no cat)
Arospeed muffler
Injen fuse box cover
Injen oil cap
Injen spark plug well cover
Magnecore spark plug wires
new lifters
new clutch
new timing belt
new balance shaft belt
new cruise switch and bezel
recall work completed
upper and lower inercooler piping
Greddy Type S BOV
Pioneer CD/Tuner
Upper front strut bar
Upper reat strut bar
Air/Fuel gauge
Boost gauge
Exhaust Temp Guage
(All Autometer Sport Comp)
Pacesetter Short Throw
Valve cover painted yellow
brake calipers painted yellow
Various engine parts polished and painted yellow
Have an extra head and intake

I personally think $6,000 for a car with 106,000 miles on it is too much - unless the mods. If you provide this site with a list of mods guys will be more than happy to give their opinion.

The problem is this: The Eclipse is valued more (when looking at blue book) than the Talon. As you know, but being new to the DSM scene you may not, the Talon is the exact same engine as the Eclipse. And it costs less. When I bought mine they wanted $5,500 more for an Eclipse (at a dealer) that had almost twice the miles as the Talon.

Plus, the GSX and TSi AWD were less than 3% of total sales for the Eclipse and Talon, so there's just not many of them around in good condition - that applies to the 2G

Yes I know about the talons being the same, and they have the 4g63 engine, and your talon, thats a great deal tobad your not in thie area, it's prolly much better looking and clean.

But I don't think this car That I'm looking at has any internals mods
wich looks like it could be a hazard, brings the barging price to much lower then 6000$, talking about the cars body and a couple more things.

I wish you best of luck on your selling, thats going to be a great deal.
