There are hella posts on this, and very recent ones at that. Yes they help in spool up, boost control and are slightly noticable in power depending on othr mods...

It is not something, IMO, that should be for a stret car. It is very loud, and other steps can be taken to acheive boost control (no spike) and such...

Yes, they are well worth it. I made mine for $65 in parts from Road Race Engineering . A 2.5" o2 elim w/a ~1.75" dump tube for my 16g w/a 34mm internal flapper. There is a noticable power gain in the upper rpm and quicker spool, but beware its louder than #@%#@%#@%#@%.
Personaly I like it, nice power gain even at moderate boost, NO BOOST CREEP, more effecient boost, it will make your opponent deaf, scare old foggies, shatter windows and mess w/other drivers heads. You cruise up all quiet w/your 2.5" turbo back, dump to a million decibles, let off and back to normal. You could put a little muffler at the end if it get annoying.

I've been pulled over after dumping in front of a cop. A good 1-2-3 gear pull. He didnt say a thing because the car idles quiet.

Oh yeah, it also shoots out some nice big flames under the car when shifting hard up in the rpm's.

Agreed. Every car with a external o2 dump I've ever seen has gained a LOT of power. It's also only loud when you are at WOT. If you are going WOT in front of cops or a residential neighborhood, your stupid anyway. ;)

Think about it: The only time the wastegate is open, is when there is so much exhaust pressure, it needs to escape. With wastegates that are simply routed back into the exhaust (like stock) you are then sending all that exhaust gas back to "clog up" the exhaust and increase backpressure and reduce power.
With a o2 external dump, all that extra gas going through the wastegate is not causing extra backpressure in the exhaust. The difference can be dramatic. There are many stories on these boards of people making no other change and running almost half a second faster.

If you want the most performance for your money, and can resist doing full boost runs around cops, you should really get a external dump wastegate.

IMHO, listen to TheHater.

Really I don't want to here about any of your guys discharges..OMG

I may go external later but for now internal is nice. I really don't like the sound even though it is only at WOT.

John, Have you ever heard my car? It'll make little kids cry!

Seriously though, it sounds cool at WOT, and you learn to modulate the gas pedal so that you don't build full boost when you don't want to.

I like the sound it makes personally, by the time I open it to the car that was next to me, and they look over... I'm gone :)

[email protected] <~~~~ he makes the o2 dump tube and there great looking i have a picture if anyone is interested in spending like a 130.00 or less compared t0 175 to 300 for a So called fancy dump tube
E-mail me for the the picture at [email protected] <note the 00's in tool are zeros> i dont know how to send or post a picture on here ???

You can ask Candela and his passenger what my dump sounds like. For some reason mine is louder than most. If you race me and your on my driver side for more than a gear you'll be covering your ears.

I've had more than a few racers roll up there windows after running me. I should have a video up on the board very soon, it was from saturday night on the I10 tunnel just west of 7th ave(for all you az'ers) its a nice 70-120+ run dumping through the tunnel. It sounds great in there.

Would running an atmospheric dumped wastegate with say an internal gated L2R be ok?

Sure it would. I have no idea why that guy said that. There is no reason why not. It doesn't matter one whit if a gate is external or internal, the dump tube will do the same for both, that is, decrease the backpressure greatly.
