Ok well im done with the install and everthing.... i put on a ported big 16g turbo ...braided oil return line new coolant lines everything runs and drives fine.... im runin about 14 PSI and as rpms go up rises to about 16 psi...but people have been tellin me not to get on it b.c u can blow a headgasket if you dont re-torque the head gasket bolts? just wondering if that is true....:dsm:

what does a turbo install have to do with a headgasket?

and you're probably getting what is known as boost creep. do you have the 34mm flapper mod? do you have a full 3" exhaust? we need a little more info.. but as long as you go WOT and it only stays at 16 psi and does not pass it i would say you're okay providing you HAVE a fuel pump

there is no way you are going to blow a head gasket only running 16lbs of boost, and you have just entered the world of boost creep, get out your die grinder and carbide burrs and go to town on your o2 housing or you can buy a less restrictive one.

yeah i do got 3 inch dp and 3 inch cat all the way back.....the boost only ceaps up to about 15-16 psi... so i should be good.... im gettin the new fuel pump... just hasnt come in yet... im runnin the stock one right now.... the car acts like it fuel cuts on launchs but from a roll or a downshift its fine.... is that b.c i need the 255 fp on there?

I also have never heard of that.

No need to mess with the head. If the problem was your head gasket you would know. it's just creep (a very minor case) start porting your o2 housing and wastegate area.

yea headgasket has nothing to do with turbo install. With supporting mods you can max out that turbo without worrying about your headgasket.

this isnt exactly true

you WILL blow your Head Gasket at about 24+ PSI, your headbolts aren't ment to take that much pressure and you'll need to get ARP headbolts

I currently am running 20lbs with my big 16g, no problems at all (i have the right supportingmods though)

thanks guys all my mods right now are just the ported 16 g turbo j pipe....3 inch dp all the way back.... and a stage 3 clutch....hard pipe intake.... greddy bov.... so should 14 and peakin at 16 psi be ok to run untill i get bigger upgrades?

turbo cars are very sensitive to weather, altatude and temp..

you really N E E D to get a pocket logger to see if your getting any knock counts

I'd say 15'sh PSI should be fine, but you need to verify that with a data logger to ensure that your not getting knock (knock ruins engines)

www.pocketlogger.com

aside from that, i'd say you "should" be fine
