Hey guys. I have a question for you. I can and plan to do almost all of the work on my DSM except for the big internal engine stuff, just becuase I am not competent enough to do so. Well anway there is a problem with my engine and pretty much the front cover needs to be replaced along with the oil pump and a few other pieces. To do what needs to be done I am taking it to a local DSM shop to do becuase as I said I dont do internal engine work.
Here is what I have in the engine now: Buschur stage 3 shortblock, JE pistons, Eagle rods and ARP fasteners throughout including head studs, Prothane motor mounts
Anyway, so of course I have to pay labor to get the work done. So I figured if I am going to pay labor for this why not get him to change EVERYTHING out for me even if I can do it myself since the price will be the same. So I plan to buy new Cams, larger fuel injectors, new lifters, and the timing belt stuff. Yea I know I can do some of that myself, but if im paying anyway... So my question to you guys is are there any other parts I should be upgrading in the internals of the engine while I have it apart that I really cant do later on myself? Just becuase I would hate to have forgotten one thing and then have to pay the labor charges again. Thanks a lot for the help and advice, its greatly appreciated.
btw, should I change the fuel pump at this time to? I am getting a Walbro 255 however I planned to just stick it on myself later. Just wondering.
