Need some advice on project car
Ok, here's what I got and what I want. I'm currently building a 90 AWD talon. I have two cars, one is a parts car and the other is the project car both with trans probs. I've stripped the parts car of almost everything and am currently building the motor. 264/272 cams, all the good valvetrain stuff(havn't bought the valves yet), 8.5:1 wiesco's, eagle rods, taking the bal. shafts out, Teflon coated the bearings and piston skirts, Had some type of ceremic type coating put on the piston tops, ACT X-ACT flywheel, head is going to be ported once i decide on the manifold, and of course all the basic rebuild/maint. stuff.

Here's what I want to eventually end up with an low 11 sec (there are no 1/4mi tracks close so i figure about a 7sec 1/8)car on pump gas on or off the bottle whatever it takes if it is even possible.

I figured I would finish building the motor and send the trans to shep racing for all the good stuff, then swap everything into the project car and start on the bolt-on stuff.

Ok, now that I got that outta the way here's my questions.

1. Is my goal even realistic
2. I'm trying to do this in the most cost effective way so I can get off the rommon noodles diet asap so I'm trying to avoid having to later down the road have to upgrade parts that I have already bought. Right now I've been looking at intake manifolds I'm torn between two the magnus and the forrester. From what I've read the magnus has no bottom end loss and good top end gain, the forrester has some bottom end loss and great top end gain and comes with the fittings for a direct port setup. What would everybody recommend?
3. What size valves would everybody recomend? Seems 1mm over seems to be popular, is there any disadvantage to using oversize? Is it worth it to find a black nitride coated set?

Sorry for the long post, just a newbie here trying to get off on the right foot. Thanks for the read

By the way I posted this in the newbies section with the reply of "sounds like your set" so I decided to move it here with the hopes of a better response. How nobody gets mad about posting it in two catagories

I recommend the 1mm over valves . They will increase the air flow through the engine gaining a lot all across the RPM range. They also allow for better bowls and runners geometry if done right . These together with porting your manifolds will get you where you want so the manifolds you were looking at might not be needed . I'm not saying that they are not good pieces , it's just that you might need the money to get all the supporting upgrades for air delivery and fuel management needed to get the best out of the engine. I would leave those intakes at the end of the list .

Fidanza is good, when their Quality Control is actually working. Make sure you have the flywheel step inspected for height and levelness BEFORE you install it.

If it's a good wheel, you will LOVE it. I have one myself.

Also, if your car is for drag only, I'd go with the ACT or stay with the stock wheel. Will give you more inertia on launch.

Well, I went with the ACT saturday so I hope it works out. As far as being certified it's SFI 1.1 certified, not 100% sure what that means. I'm sure I'll need a scattershield I'd like to stay permenatly attatched to all my body parts :D

Just to clear something up everything I've listed has already been purchased with the exception of the valves and intake manifold.

Thanks for the info on the intakes and valves, now we are talking 1mm over on both sides intake and exhaust right? Does anybody have any experince with coated valves or is that just overkill?

I take if from the responses low 11's are realistic on pump gas?
