I have 1500 miles on my motor and transmission since the rebuild. I took my transmission off to check something out and decided to wiggle the clutch/flywheel/crankshaft. To my horror I hear it click when I shove and pull on it. If it's moving, it's not even maybe 1/16th of an inch. I don't know what else could be making that clicking noise though. It feels like it's barely moving. It's a 6 bolt none the less. Please tell me that it may be something else. Also, how can I tell for sure that it is crankwalk before putting everything back together and later finding out, as it gets worse
 
I'm assuming you replaced the bearings during the rebuild. What clutch did you break it in with? Measure the endplay as shown in the links above and that will say for sure. Sounds like it might be cw though ... or missmatched bearings. Was the crank machined?
 
I got the crank used and it had never been cut. I had a local race shop knife edge it and the entire rotating assembly was balanced. The 2600 was the stock clutch I used to break it in and I had a stock flywheel that had been cut god knows how many times. I haven't taken the flywheel off yet, but I'm hoping that maybe when I do I'll discover some other reason for the problem. I'm guessing though that since I can actually move the flywheel enough on the crank to hear a "click" then it must be further than .0055 of play.
 
The 2600 is the clutch I'm currently using and the one that was installed during the build-up. What do you mean how did I pick bearings? The crank is not cut.
 
bearings are picked according to how much wear the crank has been through.
you say you got a crank that wa never cut, but the question is did you measured it for out of round, or excessive wear? Did you ise a micrometer or plastigage?
once the diameter of the main and connecting rod journals have been measured, then use select the proper size beaings.
 
Okay, after putting a dial indicator against the crank pulley and moving the crank back and forth as much as possible with the flywheel I've gotten a measurment of .005". It seems that I was overreacting about the crankshaft movement. Though it was enough to make a noise against the berrings and/or block it wasn't past spec.
