(ON MY 1990 TALON TSI) I,ve machined 1g. rods to NEW 2g. pistons, MISH. PISTON#63DTF1 I,ve gottin three sets of (1995) rings from two part suppliers but oil rings won't fit correctly! All compression rings fit fine. The oil rings fit 1g. pistons but wouldn't fit in 2g. oil ring gap.(All three sets same problem!) Are there a combo of different rings availble? Is this A 95 turbo piston part #? PLEASE HELP!

I had to swap out a piston on my buddys 97 talon tsi and I had the exact same problem, all the rings fit perfectly except I couldnt get the oil ring to seat, all it did was just stick out and make it impossible to get the piston in the block. How did you end up getting the ring in???

look in you hayes or chiltons manuel it tells you how to fix the ring gaps if there to small. but if you don't want to look then i will tell you. place a metal file(one that is metal and for metal not wood) and file the ring slowly until the gap is perfect. take your time. file a little check to see if it fits file more takes a while but its better them spending more money that we don't have.
hope that helps

yah i was guessing i was probably going to have to do that but its weird because I figured that they would fit right from the factory since they are made for the stock bore. i dunno.. whatever.. thanks for the knowledge!

Well my lil project is done with, I ended up havin a buddy do it. But If i remember correctly the oil ring area consisted of 2 rings and a weird springy center piece. I put the center piece in first and then after getting it all butted up I put on the outside rings on that go on top and bottom of that thing.
