car quits at 5000 rpm and cel is on

I need some help here please. Well we just put in an ete32 and 1g tb and 1g intake manny and ported 2g head on my 96 talon and we have a few problems. 1st is that when my car hits 5000 rpms it backfires and quits going, i have 650 injectors, 255 fuel pump and afc so i dont think its fuel cut but im confused. Also, the cel came on for egr flow malfuntion and I dont know how to fix it, its not blocked off either but we jus performed the 1g tb and inake swap, any ideas, thanks a lot

backfire may suggest over rich and or improper timing, check the knock sensor, the computer may be retarding the timing electronically, as with the egr, it may be unrelated, egr flow codes usually mean bad egr valve solenoid, crossed egr valve sensor signal tubes, bad egr sensor, clogged egr ports, etc not really hard to fix, but worry about the backfire and power loss problem, egr is only for emissions and cold start up
