ok... I have a 93 eclipse with the 4g63 in it....I pretty much rebuilt the whole thing cuz of what was wrong with it... Now its being ###..... It won't idle or run smooth... The engine shakes so much i think it could jump out of the engine bay.... The conclusion i have come to is either the coolant/temp sensor is bad (the sensor was also broke by some lame@ss who cleaned my head for me) or i have a bent valve. When u push the throttle in to rev it. It kinda makes a funny tapping sound through the intake then revs up.. Which makes me think one of the intake valves is bent and the sensor is help mess it up too. Or its just the valve... please tell me what u guys think.......

Its sounds like one of two things...the rear balance shaft can line up FOUR times but only one spot is right. there is a bolt the the back of the block pull it out line up the timing marks and cee if a crew driver will slip in the bolt hole..if not your rear shaft is off. Its that of your mass air sensor can make similar simptons if its not hooked up....will it rev over 3k? check them two things if not hit me up with more symptoms and I'll try 2 get you stright [email protected]

I know this sounds really stupid but.... I really appreciate you helping me... You're like one the few out there on Dsmtuners.com that are not mean as hell. LOL I e-mailed you about the problems so i hope that helps out more.. If not I will try to be as specific about it as I can to help you out.

Ok to help everyone out too.. what was wrong with the engine in the first place was it had a blown head gasket... so i took it apart got the parts cleaned really good... Rebuilt it and put it back together.. But now its running funny so i don't know what the deal is...

But before I took it apart.. It ran really good, just sounded funny cuz it had a blown head gasket.

I don't know what the big deal is.... But sounds like u can no be an ass and either help me out with my engine or not talk to me........

.......................just a thought....

It might be that! The first time i started up the engine, the tensioner belt went bad... For some odd reason it like unloosened and locked up and the timing belt started sliding and smoking so i turned it off.... Well lucky me i have another 4g63 in my garage with a new tensioner on it... So i took that off and put it on the one in my car.... So it could be that!

thanx!

Tear it apart again and make sure that it is timed correctly. If you want to do things right, go to the dealer and buy new tensioner pulleys, automatic tensioner and make sure it's correct. I suggest that you visit vfaq and read up. There is a lot of good information on there. It's likely that if you read through the engine section, you'll answer your own question. Do a compression test and a leakdown test before you even attempt to restart it. Did you assemble the bottom end yourself?

You are incorrect, it can only line up twice. In the correct position, and 180 degrees off.

if you didn't do the screw driver method to align your balance shaft, did you do this?

Simply rotate the mark on the oil pump sprocket until it is pointing straight up, and let it go. If the sprocket rotates towards (counterclockwise) the timing mark on the engine, the oil pump sprocket is aligned correctly. If it rotates away (clockwise) from the mark, spin the sprocket a full turn and test again, and it should properly rotate towards the mark now. Now line the mark on the sprocket back up with the mark on the engine. This avoids having to remove the rear access bolt entirely.

Maybe not a good description, but doesn't sound like it could have helped any thing.

Yeah I think I am gonna do that... Thats probably the problem......Yeah sorry about that description... LOL I know it probably doesn't help out much but if you guys need anymore details I will help out any way I can... I gonna go try the rebalancing thing to see if thats it and if that doesn't fix the problem then i will let u guys know.. thanx for your help!
