head swap question

I'm in the process of putting my engine back together right now and I'm also doing a 2g to 1g head swap. I have it all figured out except for the map sensor. I read that you weld a plate on the new intake manifold to mount the sensor. Do you just drill a hole into the manifold and then weld the plate and the sensor over it or do you cut out a section of the manifold and replace it with the plate and the sensor?

roadarace says on their site to weld a plate but they say nothing of drilling or cutting at all
