16g to 18g

HI!
Is any machinework required to swap a big 16g wheel with an 18g? If not, when I rebuild the 16g I may consider switching

I don't believe so. RRE lists the 18G to only have a .10 bigger inducer wheel than a B16G. If it is the same price then I would upgrade, but it is not that substantial IMO.

The Greddy 18G is different from a "regular" Mitsu 18G. As you can see from the picture in the link, it comes with a 90-degree elbow which exits from the bottom, so it's a complete bolt-on for a 2G. The turbine housing is also larger from what I remember-- something like a 8.5cm housing.

The Mitsu 18G normally comes in a TD05H housing just like a 16G, but you can also get one in a TD06 housing, I believe.

Forced Performance does 16g-18g conversions. As far as I know, when they do the conversion, they do machine the compressor housing. I'd call them to verify.

Doug: Correct sir, my 18G is in a TD06 housing. Supposedly 10% more flow with the larger housing.
