Ok, I have a 93 DSM with a BIG16g on it, i am currently running about 18-19 psi. when i turn it to 20, it gets fuel cut. DSM's come an over boosting thingy from what im told. is there any way i can bypass it, and run more boost? i also have a 190 lhp. i was thinking about a resiter or something.

First you have to have the fuel for it... fuel pump, injectors.

Second you need someway to get rid of fuel cut. Either a way to modify the airflow signal from the MAS, like an AFC, fuel cut defencer, or modified/replacement ECU.

Lastly depending on how far you want to go above 20psi, you would want to install some ARP head studs.

That's all I can think of right now...

Oh, you'd probably want some fuel management, but many of the options for the second item above will cover that. Of course, not required, but to make the car run well with your new injectors and increased airflow you'll absolutely need it to maximize the benefits of these upgrades.

yea, i want to just run about constant 20 psi. i dont have the money for a translator, i was suppoesed to get one from this guy but it fell threw, i have everythnig else. what about resiters??? what is the cheapist way to hold 20-21?

This is about as scientific as it sounds, but hey you want free mods.

-hack your maf lower and in a pinch you "lightly" dent/crush your fpr top for touch more fuel pressure.I do not advise anyone doing this but I've done it to 2 different cars without any issues.

Since I switched to a 2G MAS I have never had a problem with fuel cut. Increasing fuel pressure will not do anything to get rid of it as it is a problem with the MAS freakin out. You can sometimes get a 2G mas from a wrecking yard for about 50 bucks. All you need is an intake tube and a plug for it after that.

Explain this. You stick a 2G mas on the car but no injectors? Now you have to add 22% fuel to compensate for the 2G MAS, which pushes you that much closer to fuel cut. If you have an AFC already, put larger injectors in and that will push fuel cut further back. Or, get rid of the 190lph and go buy a 255lph along with an AFPR.

You are in the exact same place you started. Except a little poorer.

Not necessarily. When you add the 2G MAS and the air flow is increased by 22% theoretically you would think that should put you closer to fuel cut. It should make your car run leaner and that would make your car knock and not be too good. What I found out is that although you have the 2G mas with stock injectors it runs fine and doesnt hit fuel cut. I have seen this in my car and 2 of my buddies. This should be wrong.....this I know but it works. Plus the dude can get 550's for 200 bucks also. This would add roughly 20% more fuel to compensate for the air.

I think that the 2G mas and the 550's would be the cheapest route and the most effecient. Even without an AFC to tune it he would still keep well away from fuel cut.

the opposite. The ecu is seeing less flow therefore it won't fuel cut as soon.

I don't define "runs fine" as being 20% lean with timing in the shitter due to knock until the fuel trims step in a save your motor.

It will be close, but not perfect. That what fuel trims are for, right :thumb:

This is very true and I know exactly what you are saying. The guy wanted as cheap as possible and I told him the cheapest route. I would not do this myself as I would spend the extra dollars to do it better. I am not stupid and I know how to tune DSM's you have very valid points and know what you are talking about. I am just giving the cheapest route possible.

We've all been down that road before, haven't we?

DSMer's are some of the cheapest car enthusiasts out there.

Oh well, you live and you learn.

Yup and it's usually the cheapest that end up spending the most amount of money ... but instead of it being in mods it ends up being in repairs.
