I just did a turbo swap in my 92GS. I Bought a JDM engine out of a 1990 eclipse... The engine fit fine and everything as expected, but the harness is a little different. At the moment there are only a few problems, the connector that goes to t MAF on the old NA engine has 1 less wire than the MAF connector that fits the 1990 engine. A friend of mine told me to plug all the vacuum lines and bypass the smog pump. Are there any common problems when performing this swap? I still have to throw in the new fuel pump, ECU, and a couple other pieces. When I turn the key on, the stereo works, the door chimes work, seatbelt warning lights come on, everything comes on as usual, but when i turn the key to start the engine, all the lights dim, i hear a click, and nothing happens. The starter is connected and the battery is charged... I'm just throwing this out there to see if there is anyone else that has done the same swap.

I installed a 91 NA engine into a 90 NA car. I was getting no fuel, i had to change the fuel box relay under the radio that fixed that, however the wiring in 90 just wont meet up to half the sensors on a 91-94 car. you have to pull the dashand half the hvac system and swap out the engine wiring harness. Also change the gauge cluster and dash wiring, your getting into more than you realized. When i did this swap, I changed all the wiring throughout the car front to back. however, if your 92 was turbo you could have just swapped 91-94 sensors and such onto it, but you dropped a turbo motor into a na car so your going to need to swap a ton of wiring. Good luick its very time consuming
