I would like a get a 20g turbo for my 2g eclipse. I would have the supporting mods.... 660injectors, 255lph pump, and a SAFCII. I have heard that a internal wastegate is not enough for the turbo. Does anybody know if this is true?
Thanks,
Nick

38mm flapper, ported housing and 20g's work great together. 15psi is easily obtainable with no creep (proper exhaust system).

I had an internally gated, 38mm, ported, TD06 20G from SBR on my 1G. I had a problem holding 15psi without creep but who does that? Anything from 18-26psi was steady. Full spool by 3600-3800 rpm. I really liked the turbo. Pulled nice with decent spool and plenty of power on tap. On a rich tune and plenty of mods to go around on 21psi I dyno'd 341WHP on pump. That next day on the same tune and gas I ran a 12.3@117 at the East Coast Shootout. With some better tuning it could've been more but I never got a chance to do that. Planned to do it this year but the turbo decided to eat itself last month, barely a year and 6K miles old. Oil everywhere. I have since switched to a PTE GT32E and love it. Pulls harder running less boost than the 20G and spools a couple hundred rpms sooner. Internally gated. I just put it on so I still have to get it tuned some but I should be hitting the dyno soon on it and then the track when it gets nicer. 400WHP and 11s on pump with my crappy driving is the goal.

Thanks, to both of you :D I just didn't want to buy something I woud regret. I think I'm going to do some research on the PTE GT32E. Do you know if it is a direct bolt on for the 2g? or what would I need for it (exhaust manifold and 02 housing)? would the 255lph and the 660s be good too?

Bolted directly up to my 2G exhaust manifold. You'll need to block off your water lines as it is only oil cooled, you'll need a custom return tube, and you will need a stainless steel feed line. Other than that, bolt on. Check my sig for the mods I have along with it. Turbo supports up to 520HP (400+WHP).

You do have other mods than the 660cc injectors, 255 pump and AFC, right? Large turbos shouldn't be blindly bolted on. FMIC? Upgraded clutch? DSMLink? Full exhaust? To get the full potential out of a larger turbo you will need the full assortment of mods.

So what do you have done?

I have an intake, full exhaust, ssqv, and act clutch :thumb: I will get the safc, pump, injectors, regualtor and fmic b4 the turbo. (tax refund and other money i've saved) :)
