Anyone got any tips on how to remove the flex plate ring from the crank? I am dropping the engine from my auto into a 5speed car.

I can't destroy it, I need to keep it for my car. I tryed the toilet paper trick, and its not doing anything, or its poorly described and I am doing it wrong.

Keep at it or destroy it to get it out and buy a new one.

The wet toilet paper method seems pretty fool-proof to me, so that's all I'm good for. :coy:

I tryed it again, this time with the toiler paper soaking wet and its just squirting wet tp fragments and water on my fact, I am using a 20mm socket with extension inserted backwards to compress the tp, but its not really doing anything. Been at it a good 20 minutes filling it with wet toilet paper.

I guess I am gonna have to get creative because I don't have a torch or airchisel and I don't really understand how you'd chisel it out in the first place.

The TP idea was mine and it works perfect you need to use a good amount of TP just keep stuffing it in the hole and hitting it in with a hammer. Make sure you fill the hole to the top with the wet TP and just keep at it usually takes me 2 min to do it.

I was wacking at it for a good 20 minutes. So no deal.

Sounds like either the socket is not sealing inside the spacer ring in the crank or you are not using enough TP. You have to make the TP dripping wet when you stuff it in there.

I use a good pair of vice grips and a hammer. Lock on one side, tap with hammer, lock on the other, tap with hammer. Do this until it comes out.

Slide hammer vice grips

That's exaclty what I was thinking...

you can even make your own if it comes down to it.

I have always used bearing grease instead of TP. I will try the TP way it's probably won't be as messy. OP is the socket just big enough to fit inside the hole so it seals really good?

All I can say is wow. LOL

I have never seen anyone use TP before. But seems like it must of worked for someone before. More power to you.

I have always removed the pilot bushing by filling it with grease and use the largest socket you can fit in side of it with a extension and a hammer. Don't be scared when you hit it, hit it like a man. It should pop out the first couple of wacs. You use grease because it will not compress like TP. Hope this helps.

USE GREASE Not TP

I did start laughing when i read the TP idea. Please don't take offense it just sounds funny
