I just finished my AWD Auto swap this morning. The trans had an unknown amount of fluid in it, so we added 3 qt's, also during the install of the TQ converter, we put about a half a quart in it. Once we got moving it was very sluggish, almost hesitant to shift. Mind you this trans has been sitting for over 7 months. So we pulled over and attempted to check the fluid, but every time we pulled it out with the car running the whole stick was wet, but we added another qt, ran better, and shifted in to 4th at this point.

Is there a special way to check the fluid? Every time we pulled the stick it was completely covered, but it did this when we first started it when it was low.

Is it ok to run OEM trans fluid with lubegard? Will this possibly help?

First thing you need to do is stop driving the car. Pull the trans pan, drain all the fluid, and put the correct amount of fluid in the trans, and change the filter (if you didn't do so already). Then work out the bugs. Your going to fry the clutches if you keep driving it with the incorrect amount of ATF.

OK, will do.

Also, is the cold line used to check the fluid when the car is cold and off? Because when I pulled it out after sitting, cold, it was low.

What cold line? The return from the cooler? You check the fluid by letting the car come up to temp fully. Then setting the ebrake, putting the car in neutral, and checking the dipstick in the trans. I'm confused about what your saying as far as the "cold line".

Cold line on the stick.

But I found all my answers via a thread from transdude.

I was keeping the car in park so it was showing a completely incorrect amount in the trans.

Thanks again e85_4g63!!
