My haynes says to check tranny fluid in park but that seems to give a way way high reading with fluid way up the dipstick.
If check it in neutral it looks to be right on where it should be.

I have seen no smoking or anything and car seems to shift ok. So is the neutral setting for checking the proper one. I tried going to neutral and park to doublecheck and the reading is way way higher in park. No mistake.

Talking my 91 talon auto race car here.

Ok thanks..now feel a lot better that its not way overfilled like first thought .

Before checking AFT fluid the engine must be on and the Transmission must be at normal operating temperature, level, have just selected every gear briefly, and left in neutral (not park).

Doing everything else right and checking in park will read about two quarts higher than actual. The owners manual has all of the details.
