Hi guys, I searched this topic already and didn't find the answers I needed. I picked up a 92' TSI AWD A/T, it sat for a few years and the motor is trashed. I guess someone blew the headgasket and put it away, now the motor is seized. Anyways, I have a perfectly good 6 bolt out of my M/T 2G. My question is, other than the obvious flex plate and torque converter, is there anything else I need to swap? I am using the turbo setup, and injectors out of the A/T. Do I need to pop out the pilot bearing? Is there anything on the crank side of the A/T motor that I need to swap onto the M/T motor? This is definately not my first time swapping a motor on a DSM, it is my first time wrenching on an automatic though. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have an automatic sir and i'll lend an ear for this one. I could be wrong but all you should have to swap is the flex plate and torque converter. Possibly the mounts as well, but I don't know that much about 2g's yet. Visual Frequently Answered Questions - Home Page Check out 2g to 1g swaps

Thanks for the link man, but it's a 1g motor. I swapped a 1G 6 bolt into my 98' talon, and now i'm trying to put it in my 92' TSI. I guess I could have worded it better, so they are the same motor, just one was in a M/T car thats going into an A/T car.

all he's doing is putting a motor out of a MT car into his auto. Just keep all the auto mounts, etc, obviously. The only difference in the actual motor itself is the crank stuff. You'll need to pull the dowel off the MT crank and swap the pilot bearing from the old motor to the new one.

Excellent! It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I guess I was just paranoid because i've never wrenched on an auto dsm before. Thank you everyone who responded, and highpsitsiguy you nailed the answer I was really looking for. *Resolved*:thumb:
