Ok. I took my tranny apart to asses the damage. My drive plate was shattered....

Well, my torque converter took some damage, but I should be able to fix it myself. Gonna have the shaft turned down a little and re-thread all the holes.

But, is the TC supposed to sit directly againt the metal piece behind it? The one with like 7 bolts or whatever( oil pump assy according to CAPS). I looked and it shows the oil seal. I see one, but its tucked into the shaft of the outside oil pump part. Is there supposed to be something else that seperated the two? Bare metal shouldnt be rubbing like that I would think.

Here is a pic of what Im talking about...

The front surface, should there be something there??

Thanks

Oh yea....How do you get the ring out of the end of the crankshaft for the TC to slide into? I need to make a new one so that means getting out the old one.

That looks fine, but the pump looks damaged where the pump seal is in place near the bottom of the shaft area.

Hmm, Ill look at that...May just be the pic, dont remember it...

I was talking to my uncle just a sec ago, and he said that the TC shouldnt even touch the pump. I think mine was casue the flex plate broke, sliding it back, which would account for the worn edges...

It makes sense. Any one wanna verify this?

Also, is it ok for the insides of the TC to move some? Like when I shake it I hear everything moving around...

Thanks.

When you install the torque convertor it slides all the way in and it will not touch the outside of the pump. The shaft on the convertor is long enough to prevent that, so no, the convertor did not do anything to your pump. You can install the convertor wrong damaging the inside of the pump though.
