My tranny is slipping the 2-3 shift when it shifts anywhere after around 3k rpm's. The higher the rpm's, the longer it slips. So when I floor it, the rpm's go past the rev limiter and then it shifts. It is only the 2-3 shift though. I just finished installing a tranny cooler and lost quite a bit of ATF doing so. I've since added 2 quarts and the slipping continues. I am also having trouble reading the dipstick since it seems to give me different readings everytime I check and the white dipstick is just hard to read in general. Could under or over-filling the tranny cause this? I am thinking about just changing the filter and doing a complete flush with synthetic fluid and lubeguard. Do you guys think this will help? Keep in mind it was shifting fine before the cooler install. Thank You

overfilling can cause many problems. Check the fluid level correctly by warming up the car to operating temp and then cylce the gears prnd21 then 12dnrp then back to n atleast a second per gear. Then look at the dip stick. Hopefully you just overfilled it since tranny coolers dont hold that much atf and nothing serious has happened.

Could be clutches, could be not enough pressure in the valve body. Could be alot. But as said above, check your fluid in Nuetral and get back to us.

I checked the fluid and it is fine. It doesnt look too bad and does not smell burnt. To be more specific, the 1-2 shift is fine but then the 2-3 shift slips about 300-500rpm's, depending on how much the rpm's are. Would a modified valve body from ipt cure this? I am really hoping the tranny doesnt need a complete rebuild....it only has 65k miles on it and has never seen a track pass and isnt abused on the street  .

tonight I noticed that the slipping gets better once the tranny fluid warms up and completely goes away once it reaches a certain temp. what does this tell you?

this 2-3 slipping has become extremely erratic. when the tranny feels like shifting fine it does and when it feels like slipping it slips-its kinda random. What would I need to change in order to fix this and how much is it going to cost. I want to get this fixed before I do any other go fast mods. thank you
