Well i just took out my whole tranny and put in all the stuff (tq converter etc) and put it back in the car a week ago and i put in some new fluid the other day, well i walk out today and i see that its leaking from somewhere. All i see is drops forming off the bottom of my transfercase. Just little red drops, but its very slow. Im hoping its not a input shaft seal cause i dont wanna loose all that tranny fluid again, LOL, let me know what you guys think. Thanks:rocks:

Also, i DID over fill the tranny (by accident) ive heard this could cause leaks, i dont see how that can happen. Could it just leak until its level? I havent drove it yet. Thanks :)

Could be the input shaft seal, or transfer shaft. Probably the transfer shaft seal. Easily replaced without pulling tranny out (if you have the right tools).

yea i know how to replace it but i was just wondering other things. I decided im going to let it leak until it gets to the correct level, if it doesnt stop then, i will change both seals. thanks

Lazy, just drain and refill.

draining and refilling it has nothing to do with my problem, im going to wait and see if it stops when it gets to level because i over filled and it leaks out of the vents if its filled too much.

How would draining the excess and ensuring you have the right fluid level not have anything to do with your problem?

im not really sure what the right fluid level "is", i put exactly what i was told on these forums, certain amount in tq converter and certain amount in tranny. Im goin to wait for it to drip to the correct level and if it stops, great, if it doesnt ill drain it then. I rebuilt the tranny so there was no fluid in it anymore, i guess what i was told of the capacities was incorrect but its fine. Im not driving the car right now, its just sitting in my driveway. Thanks for you help DNA im just in kind of a cranky mood right now, i have a passenger wheel hub issue (its rusted on to axle and wont come off) but thanks:rocks:

haha yea, been there, but itll all be worth it in the end:thumb:

I thought my rebuilt tranny was leaking but it turned out that one of the axles wasn't completley seated.

Ya i have a leak too. My leak is the T/C seal and pump bushing and i have another friend with the same leak. The reason i know its the T/C seal is my T/C drains and the car will not move when i first start it but once it fills the converter i am all good.

I'd bet on the output shaft seal being the culprit.
See if the fluid is coming from that area of the trans where it mates to the T-Case, the input leak would come down under the converter so you'd see a difference in the drip lines origin.
