I rebuilt this trans (a518 46rh-dakota), have never got it to run ever sense. It works fine in reverse but not in drive 1st or 2nd (it goes but slips big time). I thought this was a valve body issue at first so i got a new valve body. The one i got in the mail looks a little different from the original one. Mine has a "boost tube" and some more valves. The one i have looks more like an A500's valve body. The valve body was shipped in labled as an a518s (46rh) "non lock up." Now maybe my valve body is a lock up one. Would this effect the drive gears? I double checked the bands (72 foot-inchs and then spun it back 2 spins for both)

It doesn't sound like a valve body problem, however, you always want a boost tube valve body if your trans originally came with one.
