Alright here's the deal. My brother has a '93 Galant automatic and the tranny is going out. He has no money to fix it so we are gonna do this as cheap as possible. A local pic'n'pull junkyard has various mitsubishi's with auto transmissions that can be had for $75 or so. I need to find one thats compatible with his car.
Cars in junkyard to pick from: (years are estimates)
'90-'94 non turbo FWD DSM's.
'88-'94 Galants
Other early 90's Mitsu/Chrysler/Dodge 4-cylinder cars that appear to have similar engine/trannys.
Basically I need to know what will bolt up to his engine and be compatible to his auto tranny wiring. I've heard the '93 engine in the Galant was an experimental design and different from other years. I don't know if the tranny bolt pattern is different than other years.
Also, what are the posibilities for a 5-speed swap? I guess you need the axles, brake and clutch pedals, clutch hydraulics, shifter & linkage, etc. from a manual Galant -- and a tranny, clutch disk, pressure plate, flywheel, etc. from a compatible Galant or DSM. Is this right?
